We won't know if the Night Elves will be having their new home in Ohn'ahran Plains or somewhere else.

For me personally, Kalimdor is their ancestral homelands. If the Night Elves leave it then the Horde will have full control of Kalimdor. "Well the Horde burned down our tree, and we were forced to live in Nordrassil... guess we'll move elsewhere."

And for that matter, why build another World Tree for their home? Staghelm wanted to make a world tree and Malfurion told him it was a bad idea... and it turned out that both Vordrassil was corrupted and so was Teldrassil...

I'm willing to bet that if they're gonna make this next World Tree, it's gonna get corrupted again... and whatever is causing this corruption is rooted DEEP in the earth that we have to go in a clear it out.

And it's also called "if we change our plans for the writing down the line it does not matter because the whispers are so vague they might as well be meaningless" for example:Sylvanas' Lordaeron pseudonym is Lindsay Ravensun, literally meaning Landowner (Lord) of Ravens

Nothing in writing is a coincidence in WoW
The whispers are hints but they aren't "this will happen next"
They remain vague and tied to story but not so clear and precise that they tell you how it will unfold
"The boy king sits at the master's table" meant for sure anduin was serving a dark master but it didn't mean "He's gonna get the Arthas treatment"

Oh my god, so Chris Metzen is confirmed to be presenting the next expansion. This brings me back to the BlizzCons of yore, and really feels like yet another confirmation that we're in for something big.

He's 100% going to talk about 30 years of Warcraft and 20 years of WoW, and what that means to him and all of us before pivoting to the announcement.

It also feels so freaking good to see that he and Ybarra are going to see Metallica. Chris bringing the rock n roll back to Blizzard!

So let's have some fun.

Metzen is announcing it, Thrall is the poster boy, and it coincides with the 20th anniversary of the game.

It also follows right on the heels of some Dragon, Void, Elemental and Emerald Dream shenanigans, and based on the trend set in Legion and Shadowlands, it'll likely continue and escalate that theme somewhat.

What are the most likely outcomes? In what scenario would Thrall fit right in and not feel forced or out of his element (hehe)?

• Azeroth is broken, we need to heal her?
• Elemental planes?
• Kalimdor focused revamp?
• Just a revamp in general, back to basics?
• Return to Draenor?
• Maelstrom (whirl)pool party?

Elemental planes are my bet
They are a constant between every planet and are manipulated by outside forces so they are like progenitor forces
Plus the fire plane is having issues

I'm not saying they planned tge whispers around future content but they definitely take them into account and use whispers as hints for the future content.

I think that’s a stretch though, calling him the master because of that. I just don’t see why the Old Gods would refer to one of their enemies as the master. It’s a very flimsy connection at best.

The Azewrath stuff doesn't retcon ANYTHING in regards to the "1 Legion" stuff. Hell, if anything, the Illidan novel just helps it out.

Well, for one thing, I think that line just didn't come to pass. Also, the "master" stuff definitely did apply to the Jailer, even if not directly stated. Sire Denathrius is called "the master of lies" or so sure, but he also seems to "serve" the Jailer in some form, especially if you saw the cinematic where he basically wanks the Jailer off to Renathal.

Denathrius was referred to as simply the “master” several times during the Revendreth campaign. The Jailer whilst seemingly Denathrius master (though that is definitely up for debate) was never referred to as the master by anyone during Shadowlands.

I know it’s pedantic but it’s what we have to go off in game.

I’m sorry but I just don’t buy that the boy king line was intended to foreshadow Anduin joining forces with the Jailer. If it’s been made that way after the fact then it’s a poor excuse.

It doesn’t even make sense. The line makes it sound like it was done willingly. Anduin was controlled. Also, what three lies did Anduin offer us? What three lies did the Jailer offer us at that?

I hope Holly Longdale won't screw up this moment, she and John Hight were terrible on everything I saw from Blizzcons/reveals. I guess she's probably for Classic stuff, which can be interesting as well. Will they just move to Cata and call it a day?

Small pet peeve, but it's very jarring to me that they keep using "aspectral", a made-up word, instead of "aspectual". "Aspectral" sounds like it refers to a tangible object, or an area free of ghosts.

I mean, if you want to ignore the line from Il'gynoth where he describes the Val'kyr as "ravens" serving Sylvanas, sure.

My point was not "it's totally Ravencrest" it was the opposite: nearly all of these lines are wholly vague and can be retroactively applied to whoever. At the time it could have been a half a dozen different characters doing who knows what because "Lord of Ravens" means anyone even vaguely associated with black birds (it's not like Khadgar is even a lord of ravens, he literally just turns into one, the same thing half the druids do) and the three you listed as fitting the bill are significantly less "Lord of Ravens" than Anzu, Ravencrest, Sylvanas or Jorach Ravenholdt; and "turn the key" is entirely meaningless, because it's effectively a metaphor that means "do anything important".

People were very convinced that Turalyon was going evil and the "The golden one claims a vacant throne. The crown of light will bring only darkness." line was about him becoming regent, until a literally golden Pelagos wearing a golden, glowing crown took up the vacant "throne" of the Arbiter position. We still have no idea if it was even actually related, because who knows. Yrel could show up in 11.0 wearing a crown of pure light and calling herself the new High Exarch of the Army of the Light. Iridikron could show up in 10.3 in a new golden-scaled full on dragon form having made a pact with the void and light to box order out of controlling Azeroth and claiming to be the "true" new Earth aspect and steward of Azeroth.

The old god lines are amusing for tinfoil speculation, but they provide almost no value in terms of actual predictive power. There are solely a retroactive pay-off sort of thing.

not a troll. it would be refreshing. retail right now is bloated with bad design choices and lore mismanagement.

To be fair, we don't know if it is lore mismanagement until the expansion is actually revealed to be Danuser's Cosmic Wild Ride.

Until thats' the case there is still a slimmer of hope that Danuser can be restrained and Revamp can occur instead.

I don't think this is the case, though. I think that Steve will continue his waste of time story that he cannot conclude for the life of him until management get involved down the road.
