I mean, I asked the mods to delete it because I wanted to stop using MMO-Champion. Speculating about this stuff can become quite addictive. But I've allowed myself to take part in this "season" because how super interesting everything is right now. It's like we're reaching a culmination of 30 years of lore next year. Plus Metzen's back, so I feel a little less detatched from the company I grew up with now.

You can easily make ED expansion with varied zones. Just like they turned Northrend into 10 something zones which was supposedly just a frozen waste land. There are 4-5 zones with mostly snow in there. Hell, one of the zones was a complete polar opposite of what you'd expect to find in a frozen wasteland (Sholazar)
Or how argus is just "fel green shit" and then they made one of the zones yellow+purple.

While I do think it's better suited as a patch (bevause an entire expac in a cosmic realm sucks (SL)), there's plenty of varied stuff you can do even when the description is lush, forests, pre azeroth, etc. Denying that just shows a lack of creativity and imagination.

Funny enough I enjoyed Shadowlands (except for its pacing), I'm not so sure I would enjoy an Emerald dream expansion. But for what it's worth, visually I'm betting it would be far more enjoyable than what we got in dragonflight

Only reason Im not enjoying DF visually as much is because frankly, there isn't much to see when you zoom over everything at 1000% speed. I like dragonflying, but its just the same can of worms (but bigger) that they opened in TBC with flying.

I don't know about this, the land feels as big as Northrend does but most its themes are poorly explored. The land just doesn't feel like the home of the dragonflights or even catered by dragonkins for millennia. The icy part have nothing interesting compared to frostfire ridge for instance, the decay part is just a zone filled with rotting trash, nothing imaginative. I hope next expansions will do better, because the art team dropped the ball with dragonflight

The size of the Dragon Isles are impressive, and they are objectively beautiful but they lack so much character and charm.

They might even be the worst added landmass in an expansion for me.

I’m not sure why, in that context, it would make you cringe very hard.

Man, I just read about a 200+ year old Koi fish.

It just got me thinking how cool it would be to really delve deep into an oceanic expansion where we meet these ancient mermaids, jinyu, ankoan or whatever.

Wise sages who have kept track of the "currents" of history for thousands of years. Willing to lens us their wisdom and offer sanctuary below the waves, while we work to reclaim the surface from Azshara.

They just lack charm and character for me. I can’t deny the natural beauty and aesthetic of the zones. But they just feel vapid and devoid of any charm, for me.

Valdrakken doesn’t feel like a draconic city at all. Azure Span while stunning to look at lacks the character of Grizzly Hills and Howling Fjord which it is seemingly trying to emulate. The Waking Shores have a nice prehistoric feel, but that’s as far as it goes for me. Thaldraszus is just there.

Ohnara Plains are the best of the bunch with the main settlement feeling more like a living breathing place, but outside of that one area it runs into the same issues as the other zones.

Would that really be big news to anybody who isn't already a Warcraft fan? The appeal seems pretty limited, and I'm not sure if we're going to see any really groundbreaking Warcraft-related news in the near future. It might get some limited traction, but I don't think it'd do anything "internet-stopping" given that it's been somewhere in the ballpark of thirteen or fourteen years since WoW was last exceptionally big.

I see plenty of comments about a potential Emerald Dream expansion, and fearing that it would be very boring to have a fully green forest-type continent. But isn't the emerald dream supposed to be what Azeroth would have been without "intelligent beings" ? If so, why would it be just forest ? Why no desert, icy peaks, swamps and all of that stuff ? None of these are the consequences of intelligent beings, right ? Sure we've only seen the green part, but it doesn't mean that it's everything there is.

The real struggle I see with an emerald dream expansion is, on the opposite, the fact that there would be no intelligent beings, so no buildings, no civilisations, etc.

And you could stop being an ignoramus and actually read up on the matter instead of completely missing the point. Beauty is a subjective matter and any evaluation of it is inherently subjective. Something appealing to a large group of people has no bearing on that. Beauty cannot be measured objectively.

I'm not sure you've gotten anyone riled up, you just can't use objectively and beautiful in the same sentence, it doesn't work.
In WoW I've liked most of Pandaria and WoD zones I've also liked some zones here and there like Voldun, Sylvarden, Revendreth, Bastion, Howling Fjords, Zul drak, Stranglethorn Valley. You sometimes need some less appealing aesthetics but most of the times I enjoy sceneries and aesthetics that are full of wonders and visually new and smart. I think that's what a lot of people enjoyed about Nagrand and a few days ago I've found something quite similar in a video presentation for the new zones in Genshin Impact.





I've felt no wonder on the dragon isles, I didn't feel one bit that these lands are the home of the dragons except for a few statues, it's more than disappointing. When you walk across Draenor you feel the orc and draenei heritage everywhere, the living land and the beautiful sceneries encourages you to take a break here and there and appreciate it, I didn't feel this in Dragonflight, the only thing I felt is that it is vast.

I've felt no wonder on the dragon isles, I didn't feel one bit that these lands are the home of the dragons except for a few statues, it's more than disappointing. God I couldn't agree more, finally someone gets it! I've been talking about this feeling the whole time and no one seemed to get it. DF's "aesthetics" are very basic as opposed to past efforts of the teams, think about Nazjatar, you never felt for a moment like it's not some underwater Naga stuff, the whole design and aesthetics scream hey I'm an underwater Naga city, and no zone gives me such unique vibes this expansion. (I've been farming old content for months now because I'm that uninterested in DF.)
