While it's definitely whomever's fault of wording it exactly like that, the community has some blame to take too for running with it while more than enough people pointed out the WoWCast was also set to release that day. But hey, once the hype train gets going...

Personally I just saw the Wowhead post yesterday, assumed it would be about 9.2 10.2 and got a bit hyped, then waited until two hours ago before checking here and being disappointed. I think the blue post should have mentioned Classic or something.

Not many people check Twitter, and ontop of that, not many people play classic WoW. So, no, I absolutely won't blame them for this.

My entire guild made the same "mistake", I think it's poor communcation by Blizzard. But it's not the end of the world.

In a way, announcing 10.2 tomorrow instead of next week would make some amount of sense. They won't be drowned out by the noise from other studios' news if they do it this week. Since we "know" they're not a Gamescom partner, the reveal probably wouldn't happen on-stage anyway.

I could definitely be wrong, but I'm giving it a 50% chance of happening tomorrow anyway.

Gamescom still feels more like an Xbox Activision Blizzard thing to me.

Small detail, but I just noticed that the Twilight's Hammer cosmetic 1h-hammer reward you can buy from the Bronze dragon time event dudes in 10.1.5 is called "Heretical Gavel". Just interesting considering the whole discussion about who Odyn and his team were referring to when they mentioned heretics in Avaloren.

10.2 announcement date is supposed to be October 17th according to previous patches and schedule. Few reasons to think it would have been earlier. Sure they wrote "Developer Update" in this week's post and they should have addded a "Classic" to it but it's most likely an oversight.

It's possible 10.2 will be talked about at Gamescom rather than in a blue post/a video since we've seen a tweet from an EU CM teasing something coming there but besides 10.2, hard to know what else they could say. We could also have a cinematic but the 10.1 one was 2 weeks before the patch release IIRC.

I was wondering which old models were going to be updated in the next expansion...there aren't many left, right? In vanilla model, what is left? Wolves/coyotes and crocillisks, what next?

I'm quite sure crocs got updated with BfA already since we got the Bruce mount there ^^
