The PTR isn't guaranteed to go up along with the announcement, but a 10.2 build getting pushed would probably be the earliest sign we have of an announcement (unless we get a developer update confirmed today or something). 10.1 had its first build publicly visible a day before it was formally announced.

What's more likely is a custom Xal'atath model, or simply details being slightly distorted in the cutscene.
With that argumentation you could still claim it's Xal'atath if what we saw was a bunny. That's completely worthless.

There's not enough details visible to pin it to any specific character. The most we know is that it's an elf body. Any claims that it must be Xal'atath specificially are purely based on wishful thinking with zero actual evidence.

"Awakening", "Rebirth", "Renewal", "(New) Beginnings", "Resurgence" or any variation thereof would be better suited.

It wasn’t something that he needed correcting on.

I actually don't mind it. I think "renaissance" actually doesn't work as well since it's not as snappy and may be more likely to evoke the time period than the general idea of something being renascent in people's minds. I honestly think "Renascence" works fine as a title.

That you think i do shows how little you actually bother to understand what i'm saying. And you call me dishonest.

I'm not saying it is some random nobody. I'm saying it could be some random nobody and we do not have enough clues to rule it out, so authoritatively claiming it has to be specific character x is at best foolish and at worst just a bold-faced lie.

Aw geeez. Peeps still try to push those naming patterns, like Blizz adheres to some arbitrary expac naming convention??
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

Quite the opposite, when the only instance of her appearing as such is as an illusion to manipulate Farondis.

Hell, the 8.2 cinematic has her alone, in front of a mirror, in her own palace, yet she sticks to being a tentacle lady despite the privacy.
Unless Idikron goes throught the portal goes back in time to pre sundering, maybe we would have a reason to believe that is a possibillity, but we have no indication or reason to believe that is the case ..

I dont think she has a choice to begin with, she was transformed by an outside force permanently. I think she indeed embraced her form, but its hard to tell if she has any desire to turn back, maybe she misses her old beauty who knows..

I hope they flesh Azshara out more if we see her next time, she is this vainglorious queen of old, but outside that we dont know much of her personally.

I mean, yeah. They adhere to fundamental marketability and function conventions.

Dunno why you'd assume it was permanent. Things in wow very frequently change form multiple times.

    ?????

You completely misunderstood what i was getting at.
It's not the mere use of the word that's the issue, it's the lone use of the word that is.

You'd have a point of the expansion was just called "Crusade", which it isn't.
It's "The Burning Crusade", which is specific to the context of the warcraft franchise.

Nobody mentioned anything about naming patterns.
    I was talking about marketability.

Ok but how about "Legion"? Makes me instantly think about Romans.

Yeah, I don't believe that anyone with any experience with Warcraft hears "World of Warcraft: Legion" and thinks "Romans!"

I could totally buy an expansion called Renaissance. Especially if it touched upon the world of Azeroth moving forward into a slightly more modern age as well as sweeping changes to some of the culture in game.

She’s incredibly vain. I imagine she misses her beauty. I also think it makes more sense for her to appear in a less imposing, monstrous form if her aim is to forge new alliances.

On the subject of the Xal’atath debate… wasn’t the quest line Xal’atath appeared in completely optional? I imagine the more casual WoW players won’t look at the cinematic and think Xal’atath even though she’s definitely a contender.

    Early hopes for 11.0:

A focus on classes again like in Legion.
Hunting demons as a Demon Hunter, finding magical artifacts as a Mage, stealing items and assassinating targets as a Rogue. Artifacts, class halls, class challenges, etc - class flavor overload.

    New interesting playable races.
Would like to see Arakkoa or Ogres. Hopefully they add Drakonid before DF is over. We'll need a proper dragon or reptile race at some point.

New class gameplay. Found an old 4th spec post of mine and not much has changed haha.
Rogue - healing Bard spec and make Outlaw into a parry/dodge based tanking spec.
Hunter - magic-based "Ranger" spec where you can talent into light or darkness to become a Dark Ranger or Priestess of the Moon
    Shaman - Earthwarden tanking spec
Tinker - new class ideally with all 3 roles: mecha tank, ranged dps guns and rockets, healing medic
Dragon knight - fire-based melee DPS. Could see it for any of the plate classes
Warlock - a necromancer skin, and a proper one.
I'm sure there's more but want those most.
Shadow Hunter - don't know how they would do it... but I want it

A return of the glyph system or a dedicated cosmetic focused UI.
Right now we see they have Warlock pets and Druid forms in the barber shop, but I'd like to see a UI/system that travels along with us. And there aren't random NPCs you need to talk to to turn on/off things. Thinking about profession gear, Green fire warlocks, etc. Glyphs sit randomly on different spells, some are learned, some are in the barber shop. I would like to see them combine all of this into a simple and clear single cosmetic screen, similar to the Wrath glyph system but cosmetics only and more robust for all the new things.

Would like to see them keep all of the casual player content like in DF.
Probably the best thing about DF, and even partly SL - the catalyst converter + upgradable items means I can get full tier sets, both LFR and Normal without stepping foot into a raid or M+.

    Scaled PVP like Legion.

    Profession rework.
Personally I think the new DF professions suck. I think they need to drastically simplify the UI and the specializations part of the system.

Archaeology + Island Expeditions + MoP scenarios
I think they should bring back archaeology in way that helps you build up into a treasure expedition. I don't think competing vs Alliance for azerite was good, but the exploration part with random minions spawning and all that was fun. Also liked a few of the MoP scenarios, thinking about Crypt of Forgotten Kings. We also have a few other cool versions of this like the Treasure Trove runs and Sniffenseeking Digs. I'd like to see an Archaeology revamp where you can dig around or find relics and artifacts that are valuable in of themselves and also can lead you into special archaeology expeditions where you can earn cosmetics. So just to be clear, I would like to see an aspect of Archaeology where you can just find random cool items around in the world (treasure chest hunting, MoP treasure items on the ground, etc) but also have clues that you can find that build up into a cool scenario with bonus loot. Also allow you to freely go to any new "island" to explore for treasures. I would have to spend a lot of time thinking this through exactly, but this is the general gist of what I'd like to see them do.

What if they just announced 10.2 in 2 hours from now. That would be Pog

    @ro9ue

Heavy focus on Classes like Legion I feel would require a bit of brainstorming to make work. Legion suffered heavily from having all its content spread across so many classes.
Maybe it could works if it's just a rework of the Class Halls and a few scattered quests leading up to a new spec challenge like the Mage Tower.

I don't think it suffered actually, I think it made each alt have a bit of freshness to it. But even so, I think there are places where classes can be "bundled" where it makes sense if there was a workload concern on Blizzard's end. Examples:

Priest and Paladin have the same "Light Order Hall" and their quests and story are similar.
Warlock and DH same "Fel/Demon" story.
Shaman and Druid some naturey thing.
Rogues and Hunters tracking and hunting down targets.
Warriors and Death Knights in sort of an Elder Scrolls Fighters Guild.
    etc
