In part, I think it's a reflection of where the identity of blood elves as a race has gone. They sound less firm and impassioned and more like generic (and prissy) elves because that's one of the shifts their portrayal has gone through with time. The original was a bit stilted and exaggerated, but it was in a way that had a more enjoyable and stronger personality.

I always felt like the Blood Elf npc voices were the most unique in the game. They just sounded different, even to that of the Draenei which were added in the same expansion. It wasn't the accent or something like that, but more the quality of the voice itself. I don't know how to explain it, but it felt like playing a different game? If that makes sense.
i really don't understand why they're trying so hard to make wow feel more and more childish. why alienate the playerbase you've cultivated for 20 years just to make a small subset of people happy?
i mean, elronas basically dislikes everything about midnight kek. i understand him/her tho. every time the devs touch old content they make it worse.

no offense but those people got what they asked for. they are the ones always complaining about racism, war and other "controversial" topics being bad in wow
Realistically, (disregarding your comment being a generalization that seems a little unfair) even the Twitteratti can recognize something shit when they see it. Some of them may be staunch advocates for the sanitization of the setting, but that doesn't necessarily make them responsible for every stooping effort to make something more soullessly marketable, nor are they necessarily responsible for Blizzard going this petulant Isekai anime-sounding direction with the voices.

At least here, they have the luxury to just cancel the new ones and keep the old ones in. This change for the sake of change needs to stop.
The people designing the atmosphere in the game these days obv have 0 clue of their own playerbase.

Is it possible to make an addon to replace new BE voicelines with old ones. Please please please.
I will not reply to posts that are non-constructive or contain flaming and/or trolling.
Pretty much this.
I know this is rather selfish, as other other players might not have the same issues or investment in these things, but as a long time Blood Elf enjoyer I'm taking this more personally. And I hate almost everything they're doing with them for this expansion.
I hate that the whole kingdom is condensed into one single zone and they didn't expand it to modern standards, I hate the new artstyle for the assets and the architecture, I hate the new Silvermoon revamp and dragonriding design philosophy, hate that most of it is open to the Alliance, hate that we get the low rez questing gear and the new washed out color palettes and now to top it all off they're replacing the iconic voice lines with some really lame ones.
They've bastardized everything about this race.
Doesn't help that I don't particularily fancy the rest of what Midnight has to offer either, Voidstorm especially looks like the most redundant launch zone they've ever done to me. Generally I think it will be a very sour experience playing through this, so it might just be the end of the road with retail for me.
What was the storyline with Nisha and Cyrus that they removed?
A snap-dragon loa is exceptionally curious because by all current lore, snap dragons were created at the behest of Azshara pre-Naga and then following the sundering they were domesticated by the Naga. So I'm curious if this just a loa as term for "really powerful thing trolls worship" or are we meeting a snapdragon Wild God. If we're meeting a snapdragon wild god, it's fair to assume the Naga won't be far behind... amidst all the plethora of deep sea loas that are being seeded; is our Ula'tek patch about the Naga trying to co-opt the Isle of Fangs to go dominate a venomous Loa and awaken an old god minion in one fell swoop?

The world revamp dream will never die!
Well I guess you can start to understand how Night Elf fans felt from Legion to DF, where in Legion their arcane past fantasy was given to the opposite faction, BFA had the burning of teldrassil, SL denied them their vengeance and DF gave a last minute world tree + small village (while benching and almost killing malfurion) instead of returning to kalimdor. Oh and in midnight they are moving NE themes to the new and shiny haranir race, which is of course neutral.
At this point anyone's best hope is that their favourite race and themes are not focused in the story.
