I mean, I would at least like to see the World Soul dealt with in a consequential manner whether its' Azeroth travelling away from Azeroth and leaving it in such a manner that we aren't burdened by the issues of the Cosmology or she sticks around but obviously thats' the dangerous part.

I do not like the Crackening of Azeroth idea, it just feels like a really bad idea to split Azeroth into several Outlands with new context.

Also obviously I do not want to see the World Soul continue to persist as a object after the World Soul Saga. There has to be some truth to their marketing and that means actually doing something with the World Soul.

If the expansion is about returning to Quel'thalas it's a one patch expansion.

It was never advertised as a Quel’thalas and Lordaeron expansion though. It was sold purely as a return to Quel’thalas.

I was originally of the hope that launch content would be QT and Lordaeron but we’re getting QT with Harandar and Voidstorm instead. Condensing Lordaeron down into patch content is a total waste of something that could carry its isn’t expansion. People constantly fanfic Gilneas, Capital City, Stratholme etc which would have been fine for launch content but patch wise is just ridiculous.

No point shoehorning all of that into one single patch for an expansion dedicated to Quel’thalas; where Lordaeron isn’t the focus in the slightest.

Blowing up or disfiguring Azeroth more than the Cataclysm is the creative equivalent of them trying to make WoW 2 and force everyone over there it'd be complete suicide and even I don't think they'll do it. Even if they wanted to do it top Blizzard execs would kill the idea for nuking their cash cow. They know the immense buy-in that the old writing and world has with people and very few want to ditch all of it to start from almost zero at the mercy of the modern writers

When was it said this expansion would be like Legion? Apart from a few posters on here who got that thought in their head when Midnight was announced with the rest of TWSS for… reasons?

If anything TLT is more likely to be the Legion like expansion being that it’s likely to be fan service heavy and featuring all the big iconic Warcraft villains and characters.

They really took the story of a possibly epic expansion (maybe with even 4 normal seasons) and stretched it to three expansions with tangentially related storylines after launch.

Pretty much. Gives off vibes of Legion being split into a Nightborne expansion and an Argus expansion. Although I definitely think Argus should have been its own expansion.

I mean Legion also had filler in the Emerald Nightmare. The entire Nightmare story was completely irrelevant. By the canon story we should have had an Emerald Dream expansion between Wrath and Cata imo. And instead of seeing the Ancients engaged against the Legion, which was a big part of the eponymous War of the Ancients, they were largely dealing with Xavius instead who was completely N'zoth aligned instead of at least being shown to negotiate with Gul'dan or something similar.

I don't think azeorth will be destroyed, but I would love an expansion or two focused on exploring space, seeing worlds untouched by the legion or helping rebuild worlds that were destroyed. It could also expand even more on ethereal culture showing us a glimpse at the etherals who gave up on k'aresh and built lives in the universe at large

I'd also like to go out into the cosmos but my dream would be visiting Nathreza. Imagine a city of dreadlords, a Suramar-like Zone, silver spires, red banners and fel crystals. I think you'd get comfortably close to a Warhammer 40K grimdark inspired aristocracy, filtered through Warcraft.

that would be my fuckind dream right here. i say we lose in the next expansions, with what is left of azeroth she takes as with a portal to a new planet far away, somewhere we know nothing and have to starta again with our lives and citys, each exp is about uncovering a new part of an untamed world. no champions of azeroth anymore, just adventurers.

Then it would no longer be "the world of warcraft" (as in warcraft 1-3)

It has a pretty high chance of just being 12.2 at this point.

But anyway, their comments on wanting to revisit old zones like in Midnight pretty much rules some kind of AoS style reboot of the setting

I had this idea during Legion that after Argus instead of just being able to port to Azeroth, we could have been stranded on Argus and had to get back to Azeroth over the course of an expansion. That was before the Argus patch btw; I thought we would go there via Tempest Keep with multiple people joining us and we could have a Star Trek expansion visiting places like Nihilam and K'aresh with the expansion being segmented between our travel locations explained by different Tempest Keep satellites being parked in different spots as we kept refueling, acquiring planar maps to find our way to Azeroth etc.

Just like Age of Sigmar destroying Azeroth to try and build up either an Outland esc remnant or just space adventures would be a hard bouncing off the franchise for me.

There isn’t even the excuse of trying to sell new rip off space marine models like warhammer had so it’s just a truly bad idea.

Nathreza would be a good end game for a cosmic exploration expansion i think, could hook in the dread lord conspiracy and them using the power gap left from the defeat of the legion + titans as a chance to try and do something.

I'd also love to see a chance for groups like the druids of the flame to find a purpose in healing worlds that were burned by the legion for example. Or primalist left overs helping rebalance the elements of planets ordered by the titans. Having a whole Arator style campaign chapter where you bounce around a bunch of different locals where demon warlords are trying to enslave or destroy people and we intervene to save them with an Illidari character (korvas or allari maybe?)


though my personal preference for this would be coming after a rework of the new player experience tying order halls into the leveling experience and then focusing a lot of class identity in our cosmic exploration quest, with a lot of questlines set up to show off what makes classes special. they could even set up the order halls as the first and last chapters of the campaign with the middle chapters being more "generic hero work" in the places the order halls take you too. So for example druids would start off working with druid of the flame remnants to help kick start the regrowth of a burned down forest planet, and then later on the class agnostic campaign takes you to this planet mid regrowth to help manage the ecosystem and such and to meet the people who live there.

this would actually be in my opinion the most hype post WSS expansion. the stakes are lower because were no longer fighting for the fate of our world/all reality. but the scale is epic, the "champions of azeorth" taking up the mantel of protectors of mortals the universe over

Nah. I want Nathreza to occur alongside the other known Demonic worlds in a Demon War-based expansion!

Outland (revamped) as the .0 zone, with Tarratus as the PVP Battlegrond/Zone, and Rancora as the raid.

Nathreza as the .1 zone, with Xoroth as the raid.

And Kerxan as the .2 zone, with Nihilam as the raid.

Idk, I think that'd be peak or whatever.

Low-key, if TLT does give us a raid where we battle Sargeras as a 3 boss ordeal (Avatar, Full Power, and Weakened respectively), I'd like to see us go to Nihilam or around there if we do ever see his full cosmic might.

To be clear, I'm by no means railing against cosmic settings overall. TBC was my favorite expansion thematically and aesthetically and my favorite genre is Science Fantasy, and a war between the inhabitants of two different planets was the original pitch of the setting. I didn't specify, which was my mistake, but I was thinking more of the "modern" (i.e. last ten years') flavor of that being what's insufferable, and my primary point was that jettisoning the original setting in favor of that would be a terrible idea. I'd actually have loved to see expansions carrying on TBC's spirit a bit better, though I will say of both of the post-TBC cosmic excursions, Legion was massively hit-and-miss aesthetically with a few really nice touches (Legion's Argus wildlife, the Army of the Light, those hounds made of Eredar corpses, Argus' sweeping rocks and the skybox of Mac'aree come to mind) against some that really sucked (everything about the Legion's technology/architecture and most of the new demons were boring and one-note, what the fuck happened to the original Mo'arg and the Terrorfiends?) and SL was just a snoozefest for most of it. TWW's K'aresh wasn't much better, though it's an improvement on the hideous Legion technology and anything from SL outside of Maldraxxus and some of the Sepulcher.

thats why I think a "rebuilding the universe" vibe would fit well, especially with all the hints that azeorth is the heart of creation or whatever. Us going out into the great dark beyond bringing the gifts and bounty of azeorth to a war ravaged universe would be peak and keep us deeply bound to azeorth while still growing our perspective which was part of what helped TBC a lot imo. Like imagine a quest line built around helping exporting food from the valley of the four winds in pandaria to people in need all over; which could finally be a chance for pandas and pandaria to be relevant again and could even tie in groups like the K'areshi to help us facilitate distribution similar to the ecodome quest line but hopefully not quite as long lol.

Tho TBF I loved the eco dome quest just think they should have been spaced out a little more or a little more varied in what you do but the idea was a slam dunk to me.

Hell a cosmic exploration expansion would also be a great time to introduce playable ethreals if we're going around using eco dome tech to help rehabilitate planets THO I still think that should be a plot line for the illidari after regrouping with the ex sunfury elves still in outland post legion. Especially if we get a hook about the sunfury trading the mana forge tech for eco dome tech to try and make their slice of outland more liveable

The Zul'aman questline ends with him staring off at Atal'utek while having a villain monologue just to tell us to forget about it for now.

He will be a boss.

Someone else had brought up that Zul'jarra's arc has her sort of realizing he's right in a lot of ways, and that she can't avoid violence. I also saw a suggestion it could be a great opportunity to finally bring back Vol'jin as the Loa of Kings to guide him on a proper path.
