They announced 10.1.7 2 days after 10.1.5 got released, so 10.2 is being announced either a couple days after 10.1.7's release, or this week.

Major patches are different beasts. The minor ones so far have contained slightly more than nothing of substance.

Im betting on 31-10 and then Season 3 launch week after blizzcon. Based just and only on the ending of the Timewalking 6 week event.
Announcement? No idea, but it has to be close.

All this, assuming they are keeping their content cadence schedule consistent and don't suddently go back yo infinitely lasting patches.

My bet was yesterday/today, because 10.1 was also announced 2 weeks before the .7 patch. So at this point: I don't fucking know. Could literally be any day except for weekends.

The only thing I'm left wondering is what other things that Warcraft community manager was excited about. Presumably she means Warcraft since that's her job. But we're only really getting Rumble, aren't we? There's Hardcore stuff going on, but it's not really news.

Try to hope, but not be disappointed when it doesn't happen. In other words, like bird man said: Think logically.

A community manager's job is literally to go to events to show off the game. There doesn't need to be any news.

What mistake?

To stop getting hyped for things and then being disappointed when they're not the thing you wrongly expected and then complaining about it in the thread, this is a common and sadly increasing cycle in these threads and they're turning moreso into bitterness due to that rather than hype.

If something happens/is released during gamescom this week, yay, but don't get pissy if there's not just because the thread hyped itself up for it.

Are you referring to the tweet from a personal twitter account? That could mean a plethora of things. Meeting up with friends, going to con parties, and yes, something work related they're excited for, still doesn't have to be news. If there is news during the con days (it goes through Sunday) that's great, but definitely don't get hyped just over tweets like that.
