If they actually do all paladins and all druids this expansion, but without unique lore and druidic forms/paladin mounts for the new races, it will be the shittiest thing to come out of this expansion. What a waste.

New shamans just being ex-Primalists would be bad enough.

They're pumping out so many assets that I wouldn't be surprised if they have the pala mounts ready. It's "only" 14 mounts for the remaining races and they are always just an edit of the racial mount.
Druid seems to be the most work by far. Druid is 15 races and they need multiple forms for each race. And they are always completely new models.

Not to mention new hires coming in who haven't acclimated to the culture.

I think this explains why during BFA, so many devs were genuinely hurt/offended when people got angry at them. It was very unprofessional but reactions like that really make me think they weren't expecting the level of outrage over story/setting things.

I also think it's a reason why there is not much setting/lore stuff at all in DF's MSQ. There are certain quests with HUGE lore implications (like the Orc heritage quest, also the Human one is like the only Stormwind lore since Cata) but they seem carefully tailor-made for lore nerds, while they are purposefully hiding what is going on in EK/Kalimdor.
There's definitely a sizable portion of the playerbase that is taking the lore unreasonably seriously and attributing far more importance to it than it actually has. Blizzard has always been rather openly put gameplay over lore and has always aimed for something closer to saturday morning cartoons than Lord of the Rings, yet these players expect the opposite.

There's a couple mounts that would require entirely new models (horse with barding for Humans/Blood Elves, skeleton horse for Forsaken, regular raptors for Darkspear, some others I'm not remembering) and then people would go apeshit if Nelves didn't get white light options. The work being required makes me think its very likely they would just go all-in with every race getting the same mount, spell effects and lore (joining the silver hand) which would be boring, albeit easy way to shove in immediate paladins.

For druids, it's as easy as everyone being Cenarion Circle, everyone getting the same 5 generic glowing animal forms. So I also hope that doesn't happen either.

I don't see making an HD version for the human/belf ones as that much work. Neither HD'ing some old racial mounts and adding some yellow/brown armor on it. I do agree that I hope they don't end up rushing it and giving everyone the same. All classes for all races is not a prio and they should take their time and doing good. I don't like every race being every class, but I guess they're not stopping now.

Whether that's actually true or not ends up coming down to individual interpretation. For what it's worth, I don't think they went through Shadowlands intentionally writing "the Jailer is the true villain of the whole series and everything can be tied back to him". The problem is that people can logically conclude that based on what they wrote, and if the writers don't understand how people are drawing those conclusions, then that's incredibly worrying of their ability to understand the lore and setting they've been entrusted with.
Personally I always found that the issue with cosmic stuff isn't that it exists at all, but rather that it takes up so much space when utilized in WoW.

The way WoW is made means that you cannot have much room for varied storylines. You have to pick one and go with it. You cannot have a main storyline in whatever cosmic realm, and also another fleshed out one in EK/Kalimdor.

A full patch is about half a year, which is something you can get over if you are not fully onboard with the theme.
An expansion however is two years. For an expansion like SL that means two years where you don't get much storytelling centered around Azeroth specifically, which is a while if that is the story you want.

It's difficult to make a cosmic realm feel integral to the story we have gotten used to. For stuff like SL where we knew almost nothing you get the impression that what we are experiencing is wholly removed from the main plot unless you tie it back to Azeroth constantly, which makes the story feel small.

But because they couldn't figure out another color for the Forsaken armor, they can't use the second one they made for the Nelves.

It's messy, but they seem obsessed with making things "fair" for both races in content drops like these.
On the flip-side, the Forsaken get a tabard (and back item? I don't see one for the NE) but the Night Elves don't, instead they are getting a title. So these aren't entirely "fair" in that regard.

    So dunno.

The Nelf title is probably because Forsaken got a title in their pre-Heritage, but yeah they aren't getting a tabard which is weird. The tabard being locked to the heritage and the Forsaken is a HUGE mistake IMO and definitely implies that the old tabard system is basically gone in the future, unless Undercity/Lordaeron gets a new tabard (it is called Tabard of the Forsaken Champion instead of Tabard of the Undercity, though the blogpost called it an Undercity tabard).

I think it's the first race-locked tabard besides the AR ones and I hope they fix that.

It's weird that we haven't seen a build of it yet. I assume we'll get a reveal of why that is soon (patch size being surprisingly big and/or it being the last patch).

Ready to be unveil, just not yet. They'll wait just a bit. Maybe they're waiting for 10.1.7 to be out before announcing it.

I don't play only wow, but wow is the game i play/follow the most. right now the game needs new content and patch 10.2 seems so far away

what worries me is the number of people they have lost with the rto. if the number is big enough, i can see them slow down on content release.

they announced patch 10.1 before 10.0.7 was even out. unless this patch is so story driven that absolutely requires patch 10.1.7 to be out first, they should/could do the same as before

This is possible, considering we still don't know why the patch is called Fury Incarnate due to encrypted story. We can GUESS (Fyrakk wants to burn the tree!) but there may be something we don't know.

It would be funny if the big reveal is just that Magatha shows up or something.

Well, even if they announce anything there will be still almost to no real content until october, but i see what you're saying - i saw pretty much it in my guild, where i saw people that i never thought i would see offline for longer time actually went offline, also overall many people stopped playing and just wait for next big patch.

My sub ran out recently too, but honestly by the time im done with BG3, starfield and new CP playthrough it will be 10.2 already, but even then there's a lot of good game releases that i might not even find time for WoW 10.2 day one, depends what will they present.

What I find funny is we've been debating the announcement of 10.2 based on previous dates as if that is the only way. However, as I, and others have mentioned above, it's "possible" that the story in 10.1.7 is much more crucial toward the story of 10.2, unlike the story prior to patch 10.1 with 10.0.7. Hence, why they could announce 10.1 before 10.0.7 released, though they are "potentially" waiting for 10.1.7 this time around to announce 10.2.

Let's not forget, too, that both patch 10.1.5 AND 10.1.7 were announced AFTER the release of the "former" patch. For example, 10.1.5 was announced AFTER 10.1 released and 10.1.7 was announced AFTER 10.1.5 released. So, again, who knows what their plan is because there is absolutely NO pattern anymore.

10.0.7 story was literally the first part of the 10.1 campaign, so I can't see how it would spoil. 10.1 reveal wasn't much apart from what the theme was and where the new zone was and what features. We know the theme/story almost 100% already for 10.2, so I don't think that is it. Either there is a wrench in their content cadence that has popped up, or they are waiting until next week/sept 5 to not get their announcement drowned in gamescom hype
