I think it's entirely possible they are planning some form of visual revamp but I don't think it's something they have ready for the next expac. And I don't think they are up for taking the risk to change their formula and have expansions take place primarily in the old world, instead committing to introducing an every increasing number of new locations. I don't personally agree with that but that's what I think the dev team is thinking.

But I absolutely think that an actual full scale revamp would get so many old wow players to just buy the xpac and log in just for the nostalgia hit. And honestly I don't think retention would be great even if they pulled millions back.

Also a return to Kalimdor an eastern kingdoms would definitely help get back old players who dropped ship in shadowlands

People are definitely desperate for factions and old races to return, so yeah if we're just getting another Filler Island but with factions this time, it will not be a great reception.

i mean, we don't even know if these are FOR world revamp, we've seen a lot of times that they just refresh the models for old assets if they are going to be used in new content (see horde airship for transport to dragon isles, alliance airship for time rifts, night elf tents in the 10.2 zone) and shit like that

People datamined those assets, its not really Blizzard's fault beyond not encrypting them, in which case people would also start to go wild with wondering only to be disappointed later.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. The only way they could really stop any of this is just not have any of it be accessible and not put stuff up on the PTR.

Its the usual thing of people trying to piece together things from various random bits that are datamined, hyping themselves up and then only having themselves to blame for it.

Blizzard is not responsible for you drawing the wrong conclusions from what may well be abandoned projects.

Maybe controversially I'm sick of titan stuff. It feels like every other POI or instance is a titan facility now.

im aware of that statement, i mean that we dont know if the datamined assets are for the world revamp specifically. like i said theyve used a bunch of them in DF

They've had a bunch of assets that don't necessarily make sense for the area, but does update something specific needed for a revamp. And they have been doing this since at least BfA, and arguably even Legion

In BfA we had the Quilboar, which occupied the most superfluous of positions as C-list antagonists in Stormsong Valley for instance.
In SL there is an area in Bastion that is filled with regular goats. Not ethereal goats or ones with fun horns, just regular boring goats. You never interract with them in any quest or daily I can remember.

DF has less overt ones, but does still have a bunch of assets updated that are not needed necessarily. Or for that matter, assets which are never used. The Alliance Airship tower for instance.

But this is just my random thought, i still think it's nothing but you never know.

Blizzard also has patents out over the last year about using AI for models and art in their future content, so... AI isn't like exclusionary, necessarily.

I'd actually love to have found Elemental structures (in my headcanon, Molten Core would be Ragnaros original seat of power which is why he could be summoned there and there'd be remnants of Firelands' style architecture there) that have somehow survived from before the Black Empire. Honestly despite the fairly large time span of Azeroth's history, there are very few significant ancient civilizations that could have left buildings and facilities.

That could make sense.
Scaleface & his friends typically has been one moreso for riddles & hints that eventually led to a reveal versus just outright dropping leaked images if I remember correctly anyways.

Aren’t there some Black Empire esque obelisks in southern Tanaris? I know those were created back when the Black Empire was little more than a twinkle in the story devs eye but it’s what I retroactively associate them with. I’m pretty sure they’re the exact same ones seen in the Black Empire assaults in Uldum and the Vale just low res.
