Clear sign he left cause of Activision
At this point more voices in the story room can't hurt. Goodness knows we need someone to balance out Daneuser and Golden.
"Geek Is" was probably his least interesting speech, but even still, the dude manages to get some hype. He really was a charismatic dude.

who tf cares... tool left under his own devices didnt see his own projects through and now dumbs*s are praising this
Glad to be back, am definitely Chris Metzen, just look at my pfp. Going forward, everyone's player character will be changed to Thrall, we can finally tell the story we always wanted to tell.

I still wonder why he tried to search for his own name on Twitter during the scandal. Either way, unless he pulls a Yoshi-P, he's not really gonna change much.

Trying to call daddy Metzen to save their ass afte how much they fucked up hum?
Too bad, i don't think he can save then at this point, unless he is able to draw that warcraft 3/vanilla feeling/passion he had, but i think that fire is long gone.
holy **** how bad does it have to be at blizzard when they go crawling back to one of the original members who left them due to Asstivision.
Not sure what can he do when the entire blizzard leadership is just unsalvagable.

Man stays with a company for 22 years, starting with the very first "Warcraft: Orcs & Humans" and eventually becomes the creative director for one of the most famous RTS of all time, Warcraft III...and somehow that counts as "didn't see his own projects through?" 22 years and you take issue that he signs off to focus on family and health?
Just, woooow.

I like this alot.
+1 to chaud for the avatars

That takes power to influence someones job security. It's more likely this is the equivalent of "consulting" an author when making a movie of his book. We know how that usually goes... The influence Metzen has will depend on how much trust the executives actually in charge have in his opinions.
He's only back as a creative advisor. Danuser is still free to create trashfire dialogue, incoherent plot sequences and unlikeable characters as he pleases.
Intelligent Systems hired a manga writer for Fire Emblem Fates, who wound up writing 500 pages for each route. Intelligent Systems then disregarded everything he wrote and proceeded to implement their own awful story. Or remember how George Lucas was asked to consult on the sequel trilogy, and Disney tossed all of his stuff and decided to go their own way. Bringing good writers on board means jack all unless you are willing to actually use them.
I think the Ouroboros setting might have just been a one off thing. A man can also work on multiple projects at once too. As a creative advisor, he might only get asked to consult maybe once every two years when the devs try to plan a new expansion and patch cycle.
I doubt we will ever see a Blizzcon again. At most he might present in videos.
IIRC his cited reason for leaving in the first place was because he wanted to spend more time with his family.
Probably little opportunity for that to happen if he only comes into the office once every 2 years.
This. Remember that Danuser is still dictating the story. The storytelling won't improve, let alone the gameplay.
