    Professions update

Does anyone else feel a bit lost with all the new proffesion changes? I am really struggling to get into it and i feel like Blizz went way over the top and have made it an unnecessarily over complicated hot mess. Updates are almost always a welcome thing but this just goes way beyond an update. I miss getting materials and making what i want/need when i want/need it. Instead we now have recipe difficulties, inspiration chance, resourcefulness, profession accessories, different qualities of items, artisan's mettle, primal chaos, spark of ingenuity, titan training matrix and so on, far too many different things intoduced into professions.

it is a lot, all at once and it is overwhelming. apart from the awful new UI though, the changes are pretty good. they just take some getting used to

The new professions are so awesome that I went double gathering just so I don't have to deal with them.

I agree with you. It's a bit much and ontop of that the crafting system does not work very well on small servers.

Great idea! Think imma do that

They just seem so pointless. In theory someone else can just make you everything you need. I have no real incentive besides lazyness to level them.

I really like it. Only one thing: I can't respec my profession knowledge. While leveling I put a couple points here a couple points there, feels wasted.

Maybe should follow or read the big disclaimer saying you can't change before you could even select a spec?

I read it but didn't think it would be that critical not to waste any points.

Yeh, it's a stupid system though, i dont argue with you there, just wanted to point out it was very explicitly stated ingame.

The fact you can't even respec your knowledge if you unlearn and relearn the profession from scratch lead me to swapping professions around on different toons, seems overly punishing for no great reason imo.

Other than that I think the changes are good, the crafting orders allowing other professions to be used with your BoP mats is a great way to enable professions to be relevant without gold becoming king, though prices right now are *ludicrous*.

eventually you will get them all... if you're still playing Dragonflight content during the next two expansions... maybe
it wouldn't surprise me if they do throw a profession respec option in 10.1

You will be able to eventually max everything, a respec would ruin how it currently is where you have to choose something to specilize in, it would quickly become "do these ,then respec and do this, and then respec and do these, and now suddenly you have all the points for 'first time craft"

    or
"Alright you need a shield, alright let me respec super quick and go all into shields"

lolololol what the fuck you on about
    "in the next 2 expansions"
bro we week 3 in, and are about to hit a new week where we will be able to get atleast 15 points and I'm already at.

in one more skill point i will be able to unlock this final tree

but like seriously gaining 15 points this upcoming week ATLEAST, maybe even 25ish depending on what i get to craft i havent crafted before, and what drops i get.

Then don't, we'll happily make millions selling you things.
Crafting is a deep endgame system now, you don't have to interact with it if you don't want to.

I hate it, it's one of the main reasons I stopped playing a week into the game.

Yeah, on my server nobody sells you anything
I have no idea why the system wasn't made region-wide. Or at least cross-faction wide. Which it actually is, but why do you have to make an alt to do so?

After leveling up my druid from 60 to 70 solely from Herb + mining and leveling up my main's JC + Lw my thoughts are:
    - people don't know what they can craft, and what others can craft. Buyers want 5 star equipment and recrafts, they don't know it's barely possible, if even.
    - Crafters promise everything to others and then they can't craft it at the desired ilevel. I was looking for an equipment recraft with insight, paying hefty gold. Got an offer, turns out the guy can barely craft 3 star thing, let alone a guaranteed 4 star with a high 5 star proc.
I think this is way too much for the average player, and this thing was designed for the average player. It must have, because all these subspecs require average players to participate in the crafting business not just supergoblins. There are so many subspecializations, that for example as a JC I can get to rank 2 primal gem and then continue to unlock another primal gems, OR go deeper into mastery and set aside new gem crafts but be able to craft a single type of rank 3 gem. Peoplewant rank 3 gems but don't know it requires you "trapping yourself" into mastery for a ocuple of weeks till you get more knowledge. And we need all sorts of superspecialized people: mace spec, equipment spec (these people boost all other professions for higher crafts), 4 types of gem superspecs, neck specs, ring specs. Everything is it's own superspecialization. On a smaller realm, good luck finding people for everything. I saw a poor hunter on my realm who can craft some crossbow at 5 star with all bells and whistles, and he can craft pretty much nothing else.
And then at the same time, people are poor as fuck. I see public orders on my realm for lariat for 1k gold commission. And someone has been crafting these for 1k gold. This is basically real life eastern sweatshops represented in the game. "If I don't craft it for 1k, someone else will."

As JC / LW I went for equipments, because I thought everyone needs these, so I get skill, first crafts, etc. I crafted low ilevel equipments for free, unlocked a primal gem which I advertised too, and for a fee with insight. This is how I was able to max out JC and LW. It took me 2 weeks on a smaller realm to advertise hours and hours to do this.
Otherwise how on earth are you supposed to find people who can craft your shit at the desired ilevel? (4 star and +) You have to be online all the time and you have to advertise all the time.

As a LW, I am at 100 skill, unlocked everything that can boost my equipment craft (100 kp in LW discipline, another 68 in mail armor, and overall 151 kp in jc), and it's still just before 5 star. I need to either add an insight (50 mettle each, which is scarce as it is), or get crafters who can upgrade my tools to 5 star, that maybe pushes my skill to 5 star. Which don't exist on my realm... catch 22.

I really really don't like this system.

My gatherer druid is having the time of her life. Made half million gold in 2-3 days. I invested some of it for my crafting profs on my main.

several months in and the system has some pros and cons

my biggest peeve is that the reagent qualities mean we need three times as much bag space (I knew that new reagent bag slot seemed too generous!), although eventually you can start to be picky and sell off the lower quality mats

the skill points are an interesting system but because they only apply to Dragon Isles it seems like they'd have to do a lot of work building another version of it for every expansion if they plan to continue it, which seems unlikely to happen. it would've been better to have some that effects past and future content as well but a smaller section which only applies to Dragon Isles, then only that smaller section needs a replacement for each future expansion. instead I expect most of it will be scrapped next expansion with a much more basic version going forwards

Emm yes? Profs are specific to expansion since WoD or smth. This isnt changed in that area.

Imo profs are too much gated. System order doesnt work well. I mean idea and early days were good now its dead land.

I meant the entire system, not the recipes
