Still debating between Frost DK and Retri Pala at the moment

Of course there's ways to circumvent this problem by finding like-minded people, but that's solving a problem that you yourself created.
Honestly they should hide the ability to inspect gear and talents at the game engine level so add-ons cannot even see them, it has made the game more toxic over the years.

I 've played Frost since forever. Seriously my main DK was made in 08' and has for the most part been frost. That said I also play every other class to some degree. Right now Ret paladin even before their rework that's coming soon, feels more rewarding than my Frost DK. Just seems to hit harder and pressing their combo spenders feels good. Meanwhile with my frost DK idk. I have to pop all my major CD's just to do halfway decent DPS. A lot of it also feels like it depends on RNG. Meaning some pulls I can do really good, almost amazing DPS, but then the majority of other pulls it's just lackluster. Also Death Strike hits like a wet noodle. It's their ONLY real heal and takes SO many of them to stay up that their DPS goes into the dumpster. Meanwhile my Ret pally just pops one Word of Glory at three holy runes and I'm full health. Not to mention all the paladins other goodies in their bag like Invulnerability shield, stuns, consecration which is so much easier to play with since desecrate needs to be placed on the floor while consecrate is a PBAoE.

I WANT to enjoy frost DK. I love the class thematically but it's just not there. Maybe if I power through it and gear my Frost DK to the teeth and get his set pieces, etc then it will be decent. But just out of the gate at lvl 70 with no gear ret pally just feels and performs better.

Honestly, Frost DK has been IMO the most boring melee spec for a couple of years now. I have tried so hard to enjoy playing it and I just couldn't. It was so much better pre-Legion.

It's only in Raids and dungeons that these things would come into question tho.

The enjoyment of playing 2h Frost in WoW can vary depending on personal preferences and playstyle. Some players enjoy the high burst damage potential and simplicity of the rotation, while others may find it repetitive or lackluster compared to other specs.

2h Frost relies heavily on abilities that generate and consume runes, which can lead to a predictable rotation. However, the rotation can become more engaging as players learn to manage their resources and cooldowns effectively.

In terms of mobility, 2h Frost lacks the speed and flexibility of other specs, as it relies on melee range combat and has fewer movement abilities. However, its ability to slow and control enemies can make it useful in certain situations, such as PvP or dungeon content.

Overall, the fun factor of playing 2h Frost in WoW can depend on individual preferences and how well it aligns with one's playstyle. Some players may find it enjoyable and satisfying, while others may prefer more complex or dynamic gameplay experiences.

Questionable how much that matters. The class / spec popularity is never driven by how repetitive a spec is.

Peaks in frost popularity were during mindless single ability spam game iterations and during tuning and mechanical advantages with the frost abilities.
=> FSc spam with RW making cleave similar to other specs in difficulty and uptime in M+ made it popular and not because it was super interesting to play.

Right now frost is locked to DnD and that did not work out great with Unholy cleave in the past either and people rather used FSc spam instead of hoping that a tank might have pitty and cater to your own classes limited AoE-DPS mechanic.

Right now you press as Unholy your army on bosses and uptime is easy since pets, DoT's and DC are there outside of melee range and you have competitive AoE DPS even with just epidemic spam.

Frost will be extremly bad for 99% of PUG runs, because RW is no longer carrying AoE DPS and even FSc is nerfed to the ground. Frost lost basicly both of its best AoE abilities and Oblit cleave is DnD locked and that never ever worked well in the history of this class.

Make DnD an aura around the DK and we have Frost where it should be.

Right now its an awfull bad spec iteration and with Frost DPS beeing excel sheet tuned by blizzard, its of course under performing for the average players, because every other melee spec is easier to play in a group setting.

I've alway been most fan of Frost OB builds, you have to worry so much less about CD's and in general more relaxing for a filthy casual like myself .
I prefer DW over 2H though but I think it's more of a personal preference.

Frost just needs more or old things back, out of 10 I'd say its a 5.

PVP wise DKs are in a near instant/constant dying state.

did you watch some of the AWC, team in finals decided to bring in a DK, it was first to die and cost them, believe it was UH but doesn';t matter FDK wouldn't die just as fast, it would die even faster

Frost 2H is only fun when the mobs stay in your Death and decay and you got CD's up.

I, unlike others, don't enjoy obliteration very much.

I much prefer dual wield breath of sindragosa. But i would like to see it reworked into a 1m CD with a more stable duration. I think it would make frost much better.

I really want to like Front DK, but for M+ 2H-OB, I just have a hella time as a lot of trash fights are moving after a few secs to the next trash pack. Sometimes I think the tanks see me drop DnD and move on purpose. Though I think a couple of specs complain about that feeling with their location spells

I prefer dual wield in general, but BoS in M+ seems impossible at times. Though I'm terrible at BoS in general. I'd prefer it be more like Bladestorm . Where you know you're going to get it every x number of mins and maybe have procs to reduce the time, but I guess that would make it too much like every other spec

    @OP
If you find it fun, play it to the best of your ability. For me, when compared to classes\specs, even doing just old raids or other world content like soloing rares, I struggle to make it preform like other classes at the same item level. Dying when trying to solo some rares, versus never dying makes it less fun

Is 2H obliteration viable compared to the dual wield version? Everyone seems to play dual wield
    Baine is not my Warchief

Depends on your definition of "viable".

It's worse, but not by much. You'll still be able to do everything but the highest tier content with it.

Currently, the character of Rost is really disappointing and underperforming. Honestly, it's not worth dwelling on it. If you are looking for a better experience, I recommend playing Unholy instead, it is much more interesting.

I had a lot of fun beating TWW as a 2H Frost obliterate Deathbringer DK. Easy to play and fun fantasy.
