Help my dps is horrible (demo)

Hi everyone,

First of all, thank you for reading my post.
In the last few weeks I noticed my dps is way lower compared to the other warlocks; also in logs I see my dps parces badly.

I think my rotation is not optimal; but I can't tell myself.
Could you give me any advice regarding optimizing my dps?

ps: I dont have 4 set yet.

Do you use any WA/TMW as rotation/track?

There is an addon called "Hekili" that is a priority helper addon. It will show you the next 3 spells or abilities that should be near best recommendations for what to cast. You can set it for AOE, single target and even going so far as to show you when to use trinkets or potions if you select that. It's not perfect by any means but should at least be able to teach you what to cast and when. After you use it for a couple weeks or so you should have a good enough grasp on your rotation that you probably won't need it anymore.

Hekili is set up for all DPS classes as well. I think that should help you more than any person can as far as recommendations. Hope that helps you mate!

I did a quick search and would highly recommend you study logs of top warlocks. I don't play demo this patch myself but at a 5minute peak it looks like your opener is inconsistent and frankly, sloppy.

For instance I looked over your eggnog kill compared to a top warlock. You're popping Tyrant after only 1 hand of guldan and no demon bolt. He's casting tyrant after 2 demon bolts and 2 hands of guldan. Yes he has tier, but he's also stacking on-use trinket with tyrant, you aren't.
(Yes I believe he's also pre-casting demon bolt, hard to confirm, take my advice with a grain of salt)

Yes he out gears you, but there's a reason his opener is more than 4x your dps, it all comes down to rotational precision. The opener (15-30 seconds) is probably the best place to practice.
I would also recommend you not use any addon rotation helpers. It sounds harsh but if you react to an addon's stimuli, your dps will not get good and the game starts to play you.
Be the best warlock you can be!

Some of what you pick also requires an honest assessment of your playing skill level.

I'm a low skill player, when I get a spec for high level players from a web page, I end up doing less dps than if I picked a easier spec to play.

When playing demo, I pick talents that give me as many insta cast spells as possible, and I rely on my pets for damage, so I pick lots of pet orientated talents.

I usually cast fell hounds first since a lot of my DPS comes from the hounds, and when the hounds expire I get 3 insta cast demon bolts.

There's a lot of different factors to consider other than just "is it good?" Long story short, play what you want.

It will say its not updated for 10.05 but click "Continue anyway" then it will say the spec is not updated but click View/Continue and it will show you nicely what you do wrong (like wasted shards, not enough uptime on some spells etc).
