If you've ever been banned, there's a message that pops up at the top that states you've been banned and directs you to the ban appeals subforum (not visible unless banned, and you can only see your own posts there).

There's no current system by which to re-use that process for any other messaging, and it likely would need some additional code to make it thread-specific and modifiable by moderators, but the capacity to display such messages is possible in the forum code.

No matter the topic, someone will find a way to redirect it to complain about their current aggro.

As to how it would work with visibility: There are a number of problems with that. I don't see how top posting (start of thread) would help with threads longer than a very few pages. Those longer threads also might contain half a dozen or more warnings that are specific to individual accounts or posts and bear no relevance whatsoever for where the thread is days later, never mind how a page might look if it starts off with a dozen earlier warnings. That doesn't work at all for the mega-threads that might have thousands of posts.

It's difficult to see an easy solution.
I honestly think specific thread warnings should be added to the OP; that way it's easy for those who want to do their due diligence can more easily see active thread warnings that are likely to get anyone in trouble hundreds or thousands of pages later, even if by accident. If thread warnings are going to be enforced that long after, it's honestly a better solution than "Wait, I didn't even know that TW was a thing" and having the moderators have to remove your infraction.

By far, the most clear, but hardest to implement solution would to be re-use code from the ban info pop-up. The capability *is* there, though I imagine a new TW system would need additional code to be functional, but would be ideal both for permanent TWs and for temporary ones; if they aren't going to be relevant for more than a view pages, they could drop off after either X amount of time, or B amount of posts, where as entering something like a zero value could tell the system "hey, this TW is probably permanent."

In addition, if we had some form of spoiler/drop-down system on this site, it could be easier to wrap up all of the active TWs (TWs that are no longer active need not be shown or infracted upon) in something that looks like
ACTIVE THREAD WARNINGS
STOP THE CHRISTMAS REFERENCES, IT HAS NO RELEVANCE ON A THREAD ABOUT SUMMER'S EVE
CEASE ARGUING OVER WATERMELON
in the text editor (Obviously just examples) would be far easier to swallow.

That way, its easy to go "oh hey, I got quoted and someone posted a ridiculous take about watermelon, let me check... oh according to the OP, 16 pages later there was an active warning applied about watermelon that I would have never seen because I just came back from vacation and it's 253 pages later, so glad I checked."

I know I definitely am glad to see a TW and not post something, as it saves an infraction. And as evidenced by some of the responses in this thread, that I wouldn't be alone.

it can be done for sure but I don't know if mmo-c still have a lot of dev resources for this kind of development.

For instance, there are a lot of dead pages on the website that should be removed for the website to evolve nicely but I'm not sure we will see any update soon :/

It could be interesting to have some communication from the mmoc devs though

Exactly this. It's not a lot of work. But it seems the website is really in maintenance mode with the bare minimum to keep it running.
