If you consider that an "important topic" then you should discuss it with the only people that care: Twitter users.
Don't spread your Twitter shitstorms to other platforms please. Just keep them contained in your bubble and let the rest of the world enjoy their interests without attacking them for it again and again and again.

In my mind the discussion often is: "Is that a bad thing or not? And why should we care?"

Because anyone who points out basic truths of reality is apparently "hateful" and "phobic" which are things forums frown upon. No point allowing a topic when only one side of the debate can discuss it.

There are many people out there who have regrettable views. There are far less people who are willing and able to push for those views.
The issue is not her being transphobic, it's her activism against trans rights.

And honestly the LGBTQIA community is taking a fairly simple stance here. If you want to consider yourself an ally, do not support this IP. The sacrifice asked is minuscule. We aren't asking you to change your lifestyle completely to take a moral stance like vegans do; that is a complex and major sacrifice. Just don't watch HP movies and play HP games if you want to consider yourself an ally to LGBTQIA people and their fight for equality. It's the same with asking people not to eat at a specific fast food brand that actively tried to harm queer people and getting "allies" telling you "but the chicken is so tasty". Well then you are not an ally. You just enjoy queer culture and want to feel good about yourself but not at the expense of anything.

And if you are not an ally, no skin of our back. We don't expect it of you. You make your choices and we get to make our moral valuation based on them just like you do. Just don't pretend.

Yea like bullying people on Twitch who stream the game? So much for acceptance and tolerance

So if you are consuming said media, this automatically makes you not an ally? Big oversimplification and major labelling going on here.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

It's not oversimplification. It's just simple. You support people who harm queer people, you don't get to claim to be an ally. Just make peace with it. You are not required to be an ally or anything but if this is too much of a sacrifice, it's just not for you.

I'm surprised that people let one person hold so much power over their lifes.

JK Rowling doesn't harm queer people by holding a view point

Because the terrible mods would always rather just forbid a topic about an entire group of Humans rather than punish bigots who exist just to demean them. Whether that means certain mods agree with the bigotry or they're just lazy, it's because they don't want to put in the effort.

She is a horrible person, wanting womens spaces for actual women! It's not as if there is a significantly large portion of the trans community that are perverts (AGPs, fetishists etc)

    Terfs make me sick

She's a fucking billionaire who is basically the head of a worldwide hate movement, using her power and influence to literally incite laws and be used as a source for them in the UK that restrict trans rights.

But yeah keep pretending it's about "holding a viewpoint."

If people want to better understand why discussions around these sensitive topics are difficult to have, it's because of this: a mix of selection/confirmation bias. And everyone is guilty of this.

You, or anyone else are not fooling anyone. You're purposely selecting which people and opinions are valid - based on your own leanings - and constructing a narrative around this.

Ironically enough, you're doing the same thing that bigots do: you're removing a section of a group and framing the entire collective unit around what those individuals think or say, but you believe that to be permissable because...., well, human rights.

How does it feel to paint the LGBT community with one coat of paint, because a) "the twitter verse is mad" or b) "I know trans people that are agaisnt it"

And that's why the discussion will always have a hard time going beyond accusations: such individuals feel they're entitled to behave as such because of where and whom they stand with.

Wait? Are people really hate buying this new HP Game in some weird attempt to show their support for trans hate? Wow. Just....... wow......

Then stop pretending that your opinions and of those that share them are representative of an entire group of people. It's that simple.

Because it isn't important. An easily offendable minority is trying to force stuff down "normal" peoples throats, and most people simply aren't having it. Especially because those minorities are not open for discussion, they just want to cancel and ignore anything we know about humans and biology. That being said the whole boycott of the game is as silly and infantile as most other trans agendas. So you wanna boycott EVERYTHING that has to do with people with have opinions you don't like? Big oof my friend, gotta boycott a lot more games, food, cars roads...I guess the safe choice would be living in a cave somewhere in the wilderness.

It is about holding a viewpoint, because the same shit is said even about the average person.

JK Rowling supports restrictions that prevent men who transitioned into women from competing in women sports. Which is completely justifiable given the records being blown out and the injuries women have sustained while competing against trans athletes.
