The inherently silly part of Tech614's argument is claiming to know exactly what will happen when nobody does. The repeated uses of "polished" also seem rather revisionist considering Mahomes was not considered the most "polished" passer in his draft, that was Trubisky, Mahomes was the athletically gifted riskier QB, the high ceiling low floor guy - even still, Mahomes played in a spread offense and Trubisky was always in shotgun, it gets harder to evaluate those guys.
Josh Rosen was also seen as the most pro-ready "polished" QB in his class and I don't think we need say more except that QB evaluation is not very reliable.
We can also look back on some "can't miss" QB prospects, like Winston & Mariota going #1 and #2, and neither of them stayed beyond their rookie deals.
Again, the biggest problem, and the reason you might still be right in the end, is how inexperienced Richardson is, with only one year as a starter. Dwayne Haskins and Kyler Murray had some substantial maturity issues. Another one year starter, Mark Sanchez, had some tough times thrown into the deep end as a rookie. Sanchez could have benefited from a softer transition, showing how important the situation these guys get drafted into can matter.
I think, if Richardson gets drafted into the right situation with the right coaches then he can thrive. The trouble, as others have pointed out, is too many inept NFL coaches see themselves incorrectly as the "right coaches" and will surely flub things. He is the swing for the fences pick, I still see him as the #3 QB prospect, and if you're not picking high enough to get the top two, and you're willing to be patient, then it can work out. I still see a minefield of shitty coaches that will probably ruin him, like the Raiders in particular, which I can already see unfolding gruesomely.
If things work out, he develops into Cam Newton, if not then he's Zach Wilson can't complete a pass and sets his franchise back. There are plenty of examples of guys like AR failing and succeeding, time will tell.
