I hate the overwhelming inclusion of gambling into everything sports related. It's like when the NFL realized inclduing Fantasy Football was a money maker and started to do it with everything, everywhere, and there were constant ads for it during games.

Hopefully gambling will hit the same oversaturation point soon as FF did and the NFL will back off of it again.

You can even apply the same memes to it "No one wants to hear about your fantasy team/parlay"...

I thought they had hit that point a few years back when FanDuel/DraftKings/whoever were just spamming the bejesus out of ads. Sadly it is even worse now because everyone has to give their picks against the spread, has to use gambling sites as sponsors and provide news that 'reacts to what the gambling market is doing'. Like enough already, I need to find 'no gambling allowed' broadcasts, podcasts, etc because it is getting pretty stupid.

There is simply far, FAR more money in gambling than there was in the emerging FF market. I fear we may be stuck with some of this longer than we want or simply until we get numb to it. My intake of non-game NFL content has dropped drastically, after the 1-2 punch of Fantasy Football followed by Gambling.

I just want to know what my team is doing and what the players on my team are doing, with a slice of what the rest of the league and it's players are doing.

Hopefully some channels or content creators start figuring out this unique and unheard of before niche and start catering to it.

Blame the politicians for it. They are the ones that had their bank accounts fluffed up by the sports betting industry to legalize it in as many places as they have.

Yeah there was probably a middle ground somewhere between "illegal" and whatever the hell they have now where seemingly anything goes.

In my country I can't play Diablo Immortal cause it's considered gambling and gambling like this is prohibited. lol

Just goes to show there's very different approaches around the world for things like gambling and drugs and alcohol.

I think making it legal is fine. I think having it on your phone with constant access makes it annoying, because then it's about making you bet as many times as possible, which is where all the discussion of parlays and in-game bets are advertised. Constant push notifications because a new parlay is available.

If you want to bet, go to a sportsbook or casino and do it. That'll make it sufficiently legal, but not intrusive. You have to actively seek it out.

I just find it hilarious, he's easily the worst of the top four in this draft.

Which means Vegas will draft him and I'll start eyeing up that very sharp cliff drop at the top of the hill I live on.

The Raiders GM is just a Patriots yes man for McDaniels, right? You are either getting a blocking TE after he trades the 1st for a 2nd or whoever throws like Tebow.

What about taking Stroud? I have a sneaking suspicion that they're going to end up with him after the Texans pass on a QB at 2 and the Colts then grab Levis at 4.

If the Texans pass up, then there will be a trade up at 3 to take him.

Stroud isn't a guarantee either, just less of a gamble than Richardson, and miles better than Levis.

Lamar Jackson agrees to terms with the Ravens on a contract extension.

Well then. No more nonsense about Lamar nor Rodgers. I might actually see interesting news again on twitter when the draft is over.

  12. #392
Not surprising on the Lamar news teams didn't seem to want to trade a lot for him and then dump a huge contract on him.

Funny because about 4 minutes ago I saw on ESPN that "the Texans should trade #2 for Lamar."

That was probably the last domino that needed to fall to force a QB (probably Levis) to go #2. Now there's no Plan B other than the Draft for teams like the Texans and Colts.

There's always SF...bet you they are listening.

Damn, that is a lot of money. And people thought the Hurts extension was a lot. This is 5-7m more, IIRC.

Every time a team can't get their guy signed somebody else signs elsewhere and they end up paying more because of it.

I want to watch the draft tonight but they've made it so awful to watch I'm not sure I'll be able to stomach their dumb broadcasts. Can we get a Manning draft?

The Mannings have "signed off" on Levis (whatever that means) so I'm not sure their scouting analysis will be worth anything.

Absolutely love them analyzing the game as its played, but rating draft prospects? I doubt they know anything.

I just want to do away with how they cover the draft in recent years, I would take any alternative.

I have 0% alcohol beer, and snacks galore. BRING ME THE DRAFT PICKS!

(which probably means I load up and bloat for 4 hours and end up with the Patriots trading down, then out, of the first round, as per tradition.)

    Start the draft already!
