    Converter? Adapter?

I'm illiterate when it comes to electronics.

I have a German laptop with the following energy specs (according to what is written on the charger):

    300W
    100-240V ~ 4.5A 50-60Hz

Germany operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz

Will it work in an American country with that uses power plug sockets type A and B. The standard voltage is 120 V and the frequency is 60 Hz.

Do I only need to change the part that plugs to the socket?

    Thanks!

You need some sort of EU to US plug adapter, but otherwise you will be fine. US operates 115 Volt 60 Hz electricity, and EU in 230 Volt 50 Hz. Any modern laptop or phone charger is made to operate in either mode, like the labelling says (100-240V ~ 4.5A 50-60Hz) so you can use them (almost) anywhere if you have suitable plug adapters.
