All they have to do is to create a bunch of different tiers of battlepass, add something like magic find to some of them and the ability to skip tiers on all of them and you have a battlepass where you can sink thousands of dollars into it every season.

Do I think they will do it ? Not really. But at this point I'm not naive enough to think it's impossible. We already had a dev playing with words on social media about diablo immortal and whether or not you could buy "power" in the shop.

Its cosmetic stuff nothing with power its optional and some exp boosts to help alts and stuff, its an online game, the more money they generate the more support the games gets which means more and more content.

You would be stupid to not want a game you want to play to not make a ton of money, it cost a ton of money to develop the game in the first place, the more money the game makes the more the game will be supported, its just that simple to want a game to last many years, you are paying for the game and the ongoing support costs with running an online game, its a game you will more than get your moneys worth of entertainment out of.

Its because of gamers like you not fully supporting games that cause developers/companies not to take risks and expand and evolve games to the next level and why it takes even longer for them to start a new project in the first place.

At the end of the day these companies are there to make money, thats the main goal of a company to make as much profit as possible, these profits then go into developing other games and supporting games they have already released.

He didn't. He said that you couldn't buy or upgrade gear with money. They considered the other stuff, that can be bought with money, to be non-gear. Was it a little misleading? Sure but it was also twisted a little by others (and still is apparently).
