Patch 10.0.7 - Human Heritage Armor Quest Chain

Patch 10.0.7 - Human Heritage Armor Quest Chain
Today we are taking a look at the Human Heritage Armor quest chain introduced in Patch 10.0.7. You will need to have a Human character at level 50 or above that is also exalted with Stormwind to undertake this quest.

    • If you meet the prerequisites you will get the quest An Urgent Matter upon logging in on the Human character. It tasks you with meeting Mathias Shaw on the Ramparts of Stormwind.
    • He informs you that a Defias thief broke into the vaults of the city and stole a powerful artifact. You are tasked with meeting him and someone else at the Lion's Pride Inn.
    • There, you are introduced to Vanessa Vancleef, who comes out of the shadows by Cheap Shotting you. If you are not a rogue, Shaw will explain that she is still alive after the events of the Deadmines, and not exactly as troublesome as the others in her order. He asks her why the Defias stole the Drakefire Amulet from the Stormwind Keep, and she doesn't know anything about it.
    • Shaw fills you in on the backstory of what happened in Classic WoW, in which Marshall Windsor confronted Lady Prestor and exposed her as the dragon Onyxia, which lead to a battle in the keep and Windsor's death. Onyxia's Drakefire Amulet was discovered afterwards, and locked up for fear it still has her power to manipulate.
    • Vanessa agrees that her brethren might be up to something, and agrees to help you figure it out. You fly to the Burning Steppes to speak with Ragged John at Morgan's Vigil. After a lot of questioning with the drunken Dwarf about the whereabouts of Windsor's belongings, you are sent to a nearby wolf cave to collect chewed pieces of a journal.
    • You return with what you found to Shaw, which links the case to a Count Clessington nobleman who recently purchased an old manor in Duskwood. Vanessa sarcastically remarks about nobles being corrupt, but agrees to accompany you to the manor.
    • There, you discover Clessington's daughter, Cecilia, muffled over the house being in shambles and not profitable. You confront her on the amulet, but are attacked by one of her attendants. Cecilia did not know her attendant was a mole, and you leave the house to discuss the issue with her. She explains that her father must want the Drakefire Amulet to restore their family's glory, as it has become an obsession of his. She suggests you search Moonbrook, as her father has been there "conducting business." Vanessa is intrigued, and takes Cecelia as a hostage while telling you to meet her there.
    • There, you fight through a bunch of Clessington's henchmen with Vanessa to the entrance of Deadmines and discover the nobleman has managed to sway Duncan Ratsbon and some of the Defias to help him in his cause via the amulet. They are planning to attack Northshire and then Stormwind itself. He portals the group away and you fight your way back to the surface.
    • Before you depart, a few of Vanessa's brethren approach and say they want no part in what is about to happen as they didn't join up to steal from innocents, but to rid the kingdom of a corrupt government. Vanessa agrees, and says this is not the way to get what they want. Before the group leaves, one of the rebels calls Vanessa by her true name: Hope.
    • There, Marshall Mcbride is already facing Clessington's forces. He is wary of Vanessa, but Shaw vouches for her. Cecelia explains that her father will use the amulet to spark an insurrection and bring down his political rivals, and they must stop him. Shaw wonders if they could be put under the amulet's spell as well.
    • After dealing with Clessington's enforcers and minions, Cecilia helps you bring down the barrier walling him inside the chapel. You and the rest of your companions fight off waves of his brainwashed forces, utilizing Will to Survive to break out of his spell. You then kill him, only to have the amulet take hold of Vanessa. You all continue to resist it until Vanessa manages to break free and destroy it, releasing a shadow of Onyxia for you to defeat.
    • Afterwards, Vanessa and Cecelia discuss not living under a father's legacy and forging their own path. Shaw offers Vanessa a spot in SI:7, but she laughs and says she thinks it is time Hope Saldean returned to Westfall to help the citizens and pass out soup. Cecelia offers to join her.
    • When you return to the Stormwind bridge, you are able to tell Shaw that Ragged John wants a memorial for Windsor, and he agrees. You then are given a salute as you are made a Lionguard by General Hammond Clay, and receive your Heritage Armor.
    • The Lionguard Attire has three different color variations, and a robed version as well.

A good quest chain that, one for the nostalgics amongst us. Enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed this questline. Very nostalgic, just like the Dwarf heritage armor. And I especially loved the fact that it ended in Northshire, where it all began.

And I can't believe how much I love the armor set itself. I have to say I was somewhat underwhelmed when I first saw the preview but using it in game was an eye opener. The sheer variety - by my count there are 24 different variants of it.
Meanwhile, back on Azeroth, the overwhelming majority of the orcs languished in internment camps. One Orc had a dream. A dream to reunite the disparate souls trapped under the lock and key of the Alliance. So he raided the internment camps, freeing those orcs that he could, and reached out to a downtrodden tribe of trolls to aid him in rebuilding a Horde where orcs could live free of the humans who defeated them so long ago. That orc's name was... Rend.

The questline was boring af in my opinion. No sense of danger of any kind. Every encounter was mindless and quickly disposed of. Even the final "boss" dies in a handful of GCD's. It feels like everything is half-assed. Also the untextured green characters at the end in Stormwind just screams low-effort. How did something like that go through quality-control? If they even have it..

Orc questline: Countless orc characters from all around the WoW universe, a proper tradition steeped in orcish culture, representation for almost every clan and even the ability to choose one for yourself

Human questline: Literally a couple of Stormwind humans that barely anyone cares about

Think it's clear to see which one they put all the effort into here.

Oh, and great to see they came up with a complete nothing character to eventually become Vanessa's lesbian lover. Can't have our LGBT rep be even remotely interesting or fleshed-out or anything

It's called corporate tokenism. They make the gay characters marginal ones that barely pop in the story to avoid problems with the Arab, African, and some Asian fundamentalists.

They never cared to make Stormwind humans anything more than boring, generic human stand ins. Their preferred race has always been the orcs. Everyone else is just window dressing.

I think its worth noting for the 4 people that still play Retail and completed the Onyxia Attunement quests back in Vanilla that:

    1) a shadowy version of your PC replaces the generic Stormwind Guard in the cinematic, complete with any TMog you have equipped.
    2) Shaw specifically mentions that "you should know, you were there" when Windsor confronts Prestor/Onyxia
    3) At the end of the cinematic, the amulet is given to you instead of just being locked away

    Per usual, no fun allowed...
Vanessa's pants don't even match the rest of her outfit rofl.

It's literally ONLY female characters that gets this treatment, and WoW is a game known for having male characters who are frontline warriors and never wear a shirt/ any torso armor.
Getting so extremely tired of how it's always women who gets covered up all the time not just in WoW but also other Blizzard games it's basically systemic at this point and completely one-sided.
