Patch 10.1 PTR - Embers of Neltharion Campaign Chapters 1 and 2

Patch 10.1 PTR - Embers of Neltharion Campaign Chapters 1 and 2
Today we are taking a look at the first two chapters of the main campaign for Embers of Neltharion. There are a total of seven chapters in the main campaign. Keep in mind this is a work in progress, so things may change before release. *SPOILERS AHEAD*

Patch 10.1 PTR - Embers of Neltharion Campaign Chapter 1: A Creche Divided
    • The campaign opens with Ebyssian telling you to meet him at the Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken because Alexstrasza has news to share on the Primal Incarnates.
    • There, Wrathion and Sabellion have also joined for the meeting. Alexstrasza reveals that the Incarnates have attacked the Ohn'ahran border, and Iridikron has sent Fyrakk underground into Zaralek Caverns. She wants you and the Black Dragons to go stop Fyrakk.
    • Ebyssian says he is going to go request Emberthal's aid in the matter, and tells you to meet Sabellian and Wrathion at Cascades Canyon.
    • At the large crater in the ground, Wrathion is trying to appease a Shikaar Centaur huntsman to let them examine a pile of ash. Sabellian tells him to stop wasting time and focus on the hole in the ground.
    • Khasar recognizes you and stands down, allowing you to inspect the area. The ash pile is a fallen Centaur, Shakeel. You help bury them with their spear before joining the dragons.
    • Sabellian and Wrathion do not wish to wait for Ebyssian and fly down into the hole, telling you to join if you want. As you fly into the caves, there will be a cutscene showing you, Sabellian, and Wrathion reach the entrance, only to have Wrathion grab his head in pain.
    • Sabellian snaps him out of it, but the young dragon insists on pulling a Leeroy Jenkins. A Drogbar Primalist named Summitshaper Lorax and his earth elemental, Monstrous Mud, taunts him before running off, and Wrathion gives chase.
    • Your goal here is to assault the Primalist forces with the dragons raining down destruction from above. Wrathion keeps disobeying Sabellian's orders, and also flies down to help you engage named Primalists in his Visage form.
    • After pushing through several elemental forces, you attack the Drogbar head on. Upon victory, there will be a cutscene will shows you and the Black Dragons celebrating victory when Fyraak comes into view in the distance. He blasts you all with his new power, knocking all of you out.
    • Deepflayers capture and encase you in rock, but you are rescued by the mole-like Niffen named Elder Honeypelt. Completing this part of the quest gets you the Stone Breaker toy.

Patch 10.1 PTR - Embers of Neltharion Campaign Chapter 2: Breaking Ground
    • Elder Honeypelt agrees to help you find Sabellian and Wrathion, and she digs underground while you follow her, taking out Deepflayers along the way. She has to go to several area to sniff them out, but eventually finds Wrathion trapped in rock much like you were. You rescue him, then find Sabellian up ahead.
    • Sabellian scolds Wrathion for disobeying, stating that Neltharion would have never fallen to such a foe. Wrathion interrupts, saying that Sabellian is showing his true colors by comparing himself to daddy dearest. This triggers a realization from Sabellian, who says he recognized the relic they saw upon entering the caverns. He rushes off, leaving Wrathion in a huff.
    • Leaving the two dragons to their own devices, you speak to Elder Honeypelt, who asks you to slay the Deepflayer Broodmatron as repayment for the help, seeing as how the creatures constantly attack their caravans.
    • She has bait to use, and Wrathion wants to help. He says there is something in these caverns that is testing his mental defenses and worming through his mind. He will speak to Sabellian in his own time, and apologizes for the bickering.
    • You slay the creature, and Honeypelt pokes fun at Wrathion. He asks you to go speak to Sabellian on his behalf. There, the dragon shows you one of the relics he mentioned, and has a theory as to what they are and why they are causing the two Black Dragons' heads to swim. He tells to investigate more of them. He apologizes for his previous actions as well.
    • You find a dead Sundered Flame Scout near one, and activate it to hear Neltharion's voice stating that he can't let the experiment loose.
    • You return to Sabellian with parts that you find on broken relics, and he activates the one he is near. Neltharion again is heard through it, mentioning his laboratory, Aberrus, and stating that he hopes his kin never know what he attempted down here.
    • Sabellian says he has learned all he can here, and tells you to speak to Wrathion to have him join you both at Honeypelt's home called Loamm. He admits that while he thinks the dragon is a pest, he does actually care for him.
    • You find Wrathion still prepping the Broodmatron, and Honeypelt asks him to help her carry the carcass back to Loamm.
    • There, Sabellian fills Wrathion in on what you discovered. You then find out that Ebyssian and Emberthal are also in the village.
    • Before you can get started, however, Honeypelt has you get acquainted to Loamm. After trading with a few of the locals and investigating points of interest, you regroup with your companions.
    • Ebyssian states that the Niffen saw the eruption Fyraak caused in the cavern, and housed him and Emberthal while they waited for you. Sabellian fills Ebyssian in on what they discovered, and the two agree that the whispers are easier to control while they are in their Visage forms.
    • Emberthal knows Sarkareth and the Sundered Flame have come here because of Neltharion's secrets. Wrathion says he will quietly go search for Aberrus, and Sabellian suggests using Honeypelt as a guide.
    • Wrathion and Sabellian argue a bit again on who was rescued from the Deepflayers and who saved themselves, but Sabellian drops it as he sees it as pointless bickering.

This dialogue is painfully amateurish. Do they think they are writing for children, or is it really the best they can manage?

The original WoW makers are long gone, were left with the C team now, not even the B team. They are just doing enough to keep the game going and subs alive. Right now it's just mediocre to ok, just like Star Wars and MCU / DC stuff.

Maybe the passion is gone and we're living in late capitalism where we trot out the corpses of our favorite franchises and say "they aren't dead, look at them wave!" Weekend at Bernie's style
Unf - Night Watch - Pagle

Consider the ocean waves, and how the moon's force guides them this way and that across the earth's surface. Human life is an insane coincidence. We are an instance of the universe becoming conscious of itself, yes, old news but always worth review.

So Dragons now use their true forms only for travel? Like druid travel forms?

I'm glad that there are always some small critters that will save us from bad guys when the situation is dire!

Takes like this are fucking hilarious. The writing in wow has been dogshit for a very, very, VERY long time. Every single time I see horseshit posts like this it makes me laugh.

When was peak wow conversation writing?

Was it Jaina's crying 'boo hoo my king' in ICC when Varian lets Saurfang take his son's body?
Or perhaps was it when Tyrande, who fought in wars for 10,000 years had her tactical ability outmatched by Varian's in Pandaria, someone whose experience was closer to a child's than to hers?

The writing in wow, especially for conversations like this, has been fucking AWFUL for well over a decade.

Saved just in the nick of time by the local animal folk. Just like BfA with the Vulpera.
