I can’t, since we’ve already had a raid for Zalarek Cavern, and 10.2 deals with the Emerald Dream supposedly.

Blizzard hinted that Zalarek Caverns could lead to more underground content in the future. I assumed it was either Undermine or Azjol Nerub. This clue gives the latter a leg up. Also interesting to find Nerubian material in the Dragon Isles.

A Nerubian spiderlord has no connection with spider abilities? Also they revealed a Nerubian queen for the first time. A Broodmother as a Spiderqueen makes sense.

Which is what I said. Future raid boss for a future raid.

Which means anything. Depending on the expansion cycle, it could be a new class, a new race, or nothing at all.

I really can’t imagine a scenario where if we’re getting a Nerubian expansion we’re not getting at least a new race for the Nerubians. If we’re getting a new race, I really can’t imagine a scenario where we don’t get the Crypt Lord class, since it’s that race’s hero character.

That's the thing. This isn't about specific in-game abilities. It never was.

That is not the same thing. One, it only had the ability name, its functionality was vastly different; and two, the death knight was a class that did not exist in WoW at the time. To the point that in Wrath, the warlock's ability was renamed 'Mortal Coil' and DKs got the ACTUAL Death Coil ability.

Again: it's not the same thing. One, the demon hunter class did not exist at the time; and two, those are singular abilities, not a theme representation.

Not the same thing. The classes' themes weren't centered or based around having a combat res or bloodlust.
Did you even play 2004 World of Warcraft? Not having a normal out-of-combat res, but having the all-powerful 1h cooldown (which needed a 40 silver reagent) Combat Res was the option you made when choosing to have a resto druid in your party. Shamans having Bloodlust wasn't part of the class-theme? It was SUCH a BIG part of their class theme that raid groups in TBC needed FIVE SHAMANS in order to have Bloodlust in all 5 parties of the raid.

You're delusional if you think iconic abilities that literally made the Heroes stand out in competitive and casual WC3 aren't part of their class fantasy. Hell, the only reason I mained Druid all my life in WoW is BECAUSE I was a WC3 Ladder Night Elf player, who specialised in the Demon Hunter/Druid of the Claw/Dryad strategy. I can guarantee you I would be playing whichever class got Rejuvenation and Bear Form when WoW came out, regardless of faction/race, simply because I was in love with those 2 skills from WC3.

I did, but that has nothing to do with what I said. What I said was that class themes were not designed around specific abilities. I'm not talking about having similar in-game abilities. I'm talking about main themes of a race or class.

    You're delusional
You're making my point for me. You didn't pick druid "because they were the only one who could battle-rez". You picked the class because of the fantasy.

No, I picked Druid because Bear Form turned a caster unit into one of the best tanks in the game (I still remember their stats, 960 HP instead of 465, Heavy Armour instead of Unarmored, 24-56 damage) and pre-casting Rejuvenation on a whole army of units before engaging made them unkillable for its 12 second duration. Like I said, I would play ANY class would turn into a bear + have the strongest HOT in the game. It just so happened that they didn't fuck it up like they did with Rogue and DH for example.

If I was enthralled with the Demon Hunter Hero unit instead of the Druid of the Claw basic unit, what would be my WoW alternative? Rogues got Evasion (his passive), Warlocks got Immolate (not even Immolation Aura, but they could summon an Infernal who had Immolation Aura, which was the Dreadlord's Ultimate ability from the Undead faction), Priests got Mana Burn (the DH basic dmging ability) and Metamorphosis was added in a later expansion.

Chances the OP simply predicted the content of the next expansion is 97.5%

    - - - Updated - - -

Edit: I really like the OP's idea. And YES... this would be the first race to be able to climb walls and throw webs like the "rogue's grappling hook" to get around fast beyond double jumping.
    Sold!!

As a Druid main myself, I share a lot of this sentiment. The class fantasy of a powerful Druid of the Claw. It wasn't my first reason to play the class, but definitely what shapes my character's identity.

Funny enough, my first druid was actually a joke character I made in original beta of a flower picking Tauren character that I had no plans to pursue seriously, just to see what the worst combo character would be like. I got drawn in by the gameplay and ended up maining an NE Druid later on.

But I'm very aad that much of the Druid fantasy seems watered down or altered from the original WC3 roots. So much is changed from the Classic-to-MoP era, and a bunch of iconic abilities were either removed or had their functions watered down. I miss having Faerie Fire and Thorns. Those were iconic Druid abilities to me from the RTS era, even if Thorns wasn't all that impressive.

This was so well thought out and clearly a work of passion! Well done!

Jesus christ... i dread the thought of Blizzard once again listening to you. What's next? A murloc class based on Murky? Or, perhaps, a Faerie Dragon class based on Brightwing? Why not an Abomination class based on Stitches?

While i'd like an insectoid race like the Mantid, this game will only go downhill if it keeps catering to bizzare ideas instead of standard fantasy rpg classes.

Tranquility for me bro. I miss not having Tranquility as a bear tank. The 4-second soundclip of that ability is iconic as fuck.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsFioSuldzA

Nothing beats being a Druid Tank in MOP, with Heart of the Wild, making non-resto Druid Heart of the Wild activated Tranquility the best healing cooldown in the game.

Yet the guy I was originally quoting thinks ABILITIES don't have an effect in CLASS FANTASY. Go figure.

Innervate, Tranquility, Rebirth and Stampeding Roar really made the Druid tank stand out from the rest of the tanks out there. You could really help the raid out between tank swaps and add much needed support during a dicey phase. I loved the hybrid style of play, and it almost felt like cheating at times. Tank Druid was certainly something special back then.

I will never understand why people want more classes that turn your character into something ugly with little to no customization and no visible armor.
Crypt Lord? Really? Evokers are already the ugliest thing in the game. If you want to play as a spider - just make a druid spec themed around spiders.
There are way more realistic candidates: Tinker and Bard. Both are way more interesting, both have unique flavor, both have classical fantasy, both have some basis in lore.

But please, no more ugly shapeshifters for furry lovers.

Dracthyr Evoker was not a standard RPG class and it's working out just fine. There isn't much space left for standard RPG classes, and WoW really isn't the place for it. Also as you said yourself, you'd like some Mantid gameplay, maybe even a few sonic abilities to boot. This class would allow that to happen.

I'd love to hear the basis for a Bard in lore.

The same as for Monk - an ingame joke from WC3. If it was enough for Monk - it should be enough for Bard.
Also, Bard is a classical fantasy class, it is recognizable even without any lore. Also, Bard characters could be added to game lore in the same expac with the class itself, just how it was done with Evokers and Monks.

But I myself in a Tinker club. Everything else is lame for me. Evoker is a great disappointment because there are literally nothing good for me in this class.

The Monk had a hero and a landmass with its own lore attached. The Bard has neither.

Really? I feel that with the third spec it's way better than Demon Hunters, and comes pretty close to rivaling Monks in term of fun factor. I'm with you if they stopped at 2 specs, but thankfully they had a third spec in mind.

Story and Setting has a much broader application than a Hero and a Landmass.

Monk had a joke hero and thats all. Bard has the same. Also, ETC in HOTS.

It is not hard to be better than DH, because, in my humble opinion, DH is the most boring class in the game and the only reason of it's existence is fan service factor, that was crucial for Legion after failures of WoD.

Evoker, on the other hand, is not as boring mechanically as DH, but terrible thematically and visually. It looks ugly as hell, it looks like lizardmen, it shows no armor. Thematically it based "being a dragon" fantasy, but dragon is a race, not a class. The whole idea of "hybrid of class and race" in nonsensical and exists only to justify stupid racial limitation for new class, because it is cheaper to produce. Lorewise, it is also stupid and came out of nowhere. Tinkers exist in WoW universe, they have lore. Bard is classical RPG class and does not even need a lore justification for existence just like Warriors or Mages.
Evoker is just a weird attempt to please furries.
