Newcomer guides tend to sabotage new players...

It's been a worrying trend. People will ask for advice on what realm to play on or what class is good for X and an alarming amount of guides give the terrible advice that all servers and classes are the same.

Sticking a new player on a dead realm only limits their access to content in the future. Telling someone interested in pvp that all healers are equal is gonna run into disc priest after disc priest.

Guides actively seem to insult and belittle people answering questions honestly over this weird idea that every server and class are equal. Is there a way to fix this?

I could see moving glad restrictions to CE, KSH, elite and the mage tower mount as a positive first step.

Guides offer advice, not commands. They are volunteers. In the end, it is their opinions, just like a newcomer's to want to follow, or look into it more.

I guess this is a US problem? Most insults in EU Newcomer are from Newcomers, or guides cursing at boost advertisers.

Oh, so this is okay but when we asked for things that matter more, like Loremaster, just X current boss kill, 3 Max level characters of a unique class, or even rating in PvP, it was apparently too much.

Curious what guides you are referring to. A quick google search to newcomer guides all recommend the same:
Choose the server your friends play on, list the advantages of new, medium or high pop realms and make people aware that some realms are better for specific time zones and that you should check out the realm first if there is some "other language" population on that server prevalent.

And as for classes not a single guide says they are all the same. Literally every single guide of the first page of google says all classes are viable, but lists classes with pets as the most easiest to play, and points out that different classes have different specs with different roles and different complexities.

So not sure what this thread is about.
