BYU is not an independent. They're in the BIG 12 this starting year. FFS do some basic work before spamming bad hottakes.

BIG 12 competes with 14 teams this year. Then revert to 12 when Texas and Oklahoma leave a year early for the SEC.

The PAC12 Grant of Rights is only a rumor at the moment coming from Clownzano the podacster. He also thought a media deal would be done by MArch lol. Also the primary source for SDSU and SMU to join the PAC...

Could we have an adult like xkarma start the thread?

Ain't nobody in the Pac 12 signing a GOR unless they have a media deal in hand that pays out more than the Big 12 could. Even then schools that could eventually be in the B1G(these schools know who they are cause the B1G has already vetted the ones they would take when the time is right) aren't going to sign a long GOR.

    https://twitter.com/PeteThamel/statu...49494287319040

Nobody signing any GOR until they see the money on the media deal. Also the big brands left in the Pac 12 aren't going to make the same mistake the ACC schools did after Maryland left when they signed a long ass GOR that lasts all the way until 2036 with a bum ass media deal from the mouse they can't renegotiate or get out of. Florida State and Clemson are about ready to sue to try and get out of that shit.

Throwing a fit because the OP was copy pasted from last year isn't a very adult thing to do

Call me out for copy-pasting the op from the previous like three or four years all you want, at least get the issue correct instead of throwing a fit about "hot takes", friend

Should I have read and corrected no longer accurate info? Absolutely. That's on me. That doesn't excuse you being childish.

Also, The Athletic and ESPN picked up the story pretty quickly, in fact, it was waaaaay before your post.

But here we go again with you ignoring anything I say politely so you can keep up the same sensational false narratives in your next post

Anyways, more reports of a deal being reached. Where there's smoke, there's usually fire

Not sure what that other had issue with re Canzano, his stuff is very good, typically well sourced, and usually exclusive. He does good copy.

Hopefully a deal will be reached soon.

My biggest concern as we start a new season is:

    3, 5, 3, 6, 2, 1, 2, 3, 5

Those are the pre-season rankings of the past 9 champs. We also have 6 SEC winners in 9 years. This has become an incredibly top heavy sport.

The new playoff, when it kicks in, will shake things up a bit. But yeah...I hear ya.

This is the year for a non SEC team to win it if they're going to. Bama and Georgia have to break in a lot of new players, they're new 5 stars but still new young players. I think LSU actually wins the SEC this year. I think Tennessee reverts to being trash cause don't let 1 bowl game fool you, Joe Milton is a garbage QB and has been a garbage QB for 99% of his career. Hard doubt it magically clicked for him just cause of 1 good game.

Agreed. USC, much as I hate to say, is in prime position to go far - but they'll need a defense they didn't have last year. Oregon looks VERY good with Nix returning, however, defense was still a major issue (holy FUCK that Georgia game will be with us forever), but we open against Texas Tech, so that could be a great win/start for us. Not sure how Michigan is looking, but at least one ass-hat pundit picked them to win out. We'll see.

Should be another insane year of college football, regardless.

Michigan needs to find a pass rusher and a #1 WR, USC needs to find a whole defense, the whole pac 12 for that matters needs to not eat each other to get a playoff team since it's still 4 this year, Ohio State needs a RB that doesn't get injured by a finger poke and to also remember safeties exist for a reason, Penn State needs James Franklin to not shit his pants against OSU/Michigan, Texas needs to figure out how to not lose 4+ games while having top 5 talent.

I think I like Florida State the best as a dark horse non SEC team. Mostly cause the ACC is weak so they just need to figure out a way to beat the SEC champ in the playoffs as Clemson did twice. Florida State is super talented and got a ton of young players experience last year, I think they can do it if the cards play out right for them.

Honestly the best shot the Pac and Big 12 both have of survival is adding top tier basketball schools so the B1G/SEC still have to work with them to not ruin college basketball. Big 12 was already having talks with UConn.

If the reporting is true about SDSU not having a Pac offer, they need to not get sniped by the Big 12 here. SDSU is a good basketball school and the Pac should add them and Gonzaga(this one not as football but every other sport) as good basketball programs that the Big Ten/SEC don't want are good shields in this money grubbing market.

SDSU wouldn't just leave without a firm landing place already in mind

I'm not so sure about that. I think they did this to force the Pac/Big 12 hand on getting an offer from one.

They only stood to make $3.7 mil per year from the MWC. This isn't that big of a loss for them to eat in the short term.

I disagree, they've been flirting and hinting that they have an invite to a P5 since January or even December

Because they want one. Losing the MWC is basically nothing when they can join the WCC for every other sport temporary and easily be independent in football and probably make the same amount of money.

This is the same thing BYU did before getting their Big 12 invite and you should know about that already given you are on the other side of the holy war.

The difference is BYU's indy move was a panic move to try to match Utah's move to the P5
