It's impossible to create a good game with the current Blizzard staff and Bobby the Goblin's greed.
The climactic showdown between Azeroth, the Legion, and the Void could be an exciting way to conclude the existing storyline. It would also give a sense of closure to long-time players. The outcome of this battle, with the death of Azeroth and the decimation of life on the planet, would create a compelling and emotional narrative hook for the sequel. Starting a new game with improved graphics and a more realistic style could breathe new life into the franchise. Maintaining the familiar world map while enhancing zone sizes and details would balance nostalgia with innovation.
I bet most people who want WoW to have realistic graphics are the ones who watch those "Game with distinct art style REMASTERED in UE5 with stock assets LOOKS AMAZING(ly same as all other "remasters")" videos and agree with the title.
Exactly. And WoW is cartonish-comicsy-fantasy look. As demonstrated in WC. As demonstrated in Hearthstone. Thanks, but DF's freckles on Alexstraza face in engine-side movie is JUST exactly as detailed as I want WoW to be. Neither me, nor many others want other style in this game and there are dozens of games where people can go if THEY want it.
There are technical inefficiencies in current engine, but they can and should be fixed without throwing everything away.

Garrison Mission Manager: Select best followers for BfA, Legion and WoD missions.
Instance Spec: Switch to spec suitable for your role when "dungeon ready" pops up.
LDB: WoW Token: Monitor WoW Token price changes in LDB display.
Other addons: Quest Map with Details * LFG Filter for Premade Groups * Obvious Mail Expiration.
We shouldn't be so afraid of change, as a whole.
I could dig a darker, still cartoony, WoW, comic book style. Could be a chance to prove itself relevant and find new mindshares, and also let go of some of the recent talent on the art team. And, why not, explore some ways to present the world in a more grounded way, mechanically.
Doesn't have to bankrupt the existing WoW either. A chance to try something new, assemble a new team with a new vision.
Personally I wouldn't mind a more bland presentation, either. Current WoW is an explosion of sound and voice and color and effects, a little hard on my senses.
Many of the game's systems can be reused in a new title, and gain new relevancy. Others can be dropped, as an experiment. I think the cool part of this thread would be to brainstorm which.
Not only the two EQs, just go and ask FFXI fans what they think of FFXIV
Just imagine a WoW 2 that's going for a completely different audience than WoW 1 and how 'well' that would sit with everyone
If they kill WoW off and make WoW 2, I'd see it as my time to step off the ride and not get hooked into another 20 buck a month commitment. It's a bad idea.
Have you played BfA and SL?
Current expansion looks like that because the playerbase was caged literal murder hell for two years in the midst of a pandemic. A lot of people complained that they can't stand the death and decay everywhere anymore and the Devs listened. That's a good thing. Not every single expansion needs to be dark and bleak. It you want examples of what the art team can do, look at Torghast or Brennendam.

To be fair, there is also A Realm Reborn, but I generally agree with you
Yeah I'm sorry but IF I were to lose all the characters and gold and mounts and such that I've made and earned since 2005 I think I might just lose my mind. While I believe the game could use a reset I'd rather it not be at the cost of my earnings.
This is a great idea if the goal is to finally kill World of Warcraft as a product in its entirety.
