    I miss Demonic Build

    Hi There,

am I the only one who misses the old Demonic playstyle?
With the new Talent trees it seems, that you have to chose Momentum, Sigil of Flame and Essence Break.
I found some Builds which wehre without Momentum, but nothing that is the same playstyle as the old Demonic Build as it was from Legion to SL.

Shure you can chose talents, that it is nearly the same as it was back then.
But the Damage is shit, compared to the "go to" Build everyone is chosing and which is mentioned in every Guide.

I would love, if Blizz gives us even the possibility to play like it was since Legion until Dragonflight releases.

    Anyone else feel like this?

I think that any build that has almost full uptime in a cooldown is problematic. Demonic Demon Hunter feels powerful while in demon form and a complete wimp outside.

Demonic was only meta for a pretty small time frame in Legion fwiw (you played it on most Antorus bosses, that's it)

I appreciate what Blizzard tried to do, because what we have right now really does feel like a meld between Emerald Nightmare's Momentum build and Antorus' Demonic build. But what feels off to me specifically is like Essence Break just doesn't fit with momentum, but it's at the bottom of that side of the tree. It just feels weird. Personally I wish they would have moved the Bloodlet talent over to replace Essence Break to bring back the full feeling of Emerald Nightmare.

It was almost never meta, but it was usually close enough to momentum to where you could justifiably play it. Except for current demon hunter where its so drastically far behind momentum that people can't justify playing it anymore.

Is there anything wrong with risk/reward playstyles though? You choose this, get a powerful buff but if you lose it ur in the sh*t. But you made that choice.

There's two huge problems with risk/reward playstyles. 1) Blizzard doesn't design encounters to be forgiving at all. 2) Parselords fuck over entire groups because of risk/reward to get the high number. These kinds of playstyles screw over more than just the individual picking the talents.

The problem with Momentum is the same as before: It's a cool talent in theory, but in reality neither the dungeons nor the raids are designed for people dashing around 24/7. You could always argue "But that's the price you have to pay for the reward of a lot of damage!", but you don't do a lot of damage either.

Momentum, as it is now, has no right to exist at all.

If the reward is that you do more damage than other specs....sure? But if the spec is tuned to be just as strong as specs that don't carry the same amount of risk, then it's not so much of a a "risk/reward" playstyle as a "don't fuck up" playstyle.
