That is absolutely part of the problem and I completely agree.

You are right that the game doesn't show players a path to get better, and I think that's a good thing in a way? PvP isn't like PvE, you can't write stuff in a guide like PVE does, it simply doesn't work that way. You can do it when it comes to talents, builds, etc, and that's fine. But for the rest it's a "time" grind, and I think it's inevitable, like any other competitive PvP games.

But PvP is about adapting to the situation constantly, changing your playstyle depending on classes, strategy, cooldowns, etc. That's the hard part.

Unfortunately, unless you're willing to really put in the time, it's never gonna get better.

I don't agree that google's search engine is becoming increasingly dysfunctional, that's just not true. I think now, there are a lot more resources online to help with PvP players than there used to be, Drustvar's, arenamasterio, to name just a few.. Watching Twitch streamers that do PvP, is a really good way to become better (Like a LOT better). Specially if they play the class that you are playing, you will see different decisions in their gameplay, things you can incorporate into your own. If you are attentive, you can improve really quickly. You can also ask questions on things that are unclear to you, and hopefully get an answer. Also recording your games, and re-watching them afterwards, to try to find mistakes, or things you might have miss that were important help tremendously.

Also, I just want to add that this forum is probably one of the worse place you can come in order to get better at PvP, there is a lot of misinformation and players that have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, but presenting a "I know everything" vibe, while in reality they are probably hardstuck at 1900 or less.

PvP communities are usually very toxic and competitive. If it's WoW, or League, or Valorant, or Dota2, or whatever else... There is a very steep learning curve, that takes a long time and requires tons of patience. These games (WoW included) are way too complex for new players to be able to just get in, and have fun. It's not gonna happen, unless you enjoy getting your ass handed to you constantly for months (or even years).

Unless you got a really good friend who can coach you, let you know the "ins and out", and facilitate these process... You're gonna have a bad time.

I don't feel there can be a way for a "onboarding ramp" for newbs, just because of the nature of the game, and the nature of "PvP" games in general.

Let's be fair, this forum is one of the worst places to come for information about the game (or life) in general

I remember basic class guides from Wrath days would have stuff like "This is how to counter Rogues as a Shaman." Just simple explanations of what abilities to expect the other class/spec to use and how to handle it.

Biggest difference between pro vs amature pvper is the pro has likely played every class/spec enough to build a base understanding of what that class can do.

I played WoW mainly for the PvP. I have not raided in over a decade. The PvP scene has been horrible for years, with BFA, and Shadowland systems making it worse. I was really happy about the PvP features being added in DF, but the class design and balancing is just horrible for PvP. I haven't played since January. The damage stacking mechanics makes it so the damage is just out of control and ultimately after being a PvP centric player since TBC, I decided I just didn't want to deal with it anymore. Doesn't help that my favorite thing to play, an affliction warlock, has been garbage since they nerfed demonology survivability early in the expansion. Their solution to fix affliction is give it more damage, which the class has root issued that you cant just band aid by increasing it's damage. Blizzard doesn't know how to fix it at this point, I'm convinced.
