In fairness, I always thought they did a good job dealing with more mature themes in earlier content. It's mostly just DT that is really weird about it.

They've not shyed away from those kinds of deep-dives in the single player FF games, so it's anyones guess why they're not digging into them in FF14.
The writing as a whole has fallen flat in Dawntrail. The plot itself has enough holes to give trypophobics nightmares and the characters didn't do enough work to prop it up. The one that came closest to being interesting, to me anyway, was Zoraal'ja. Only because what he'd do as dawnservant was so dumb that I was waiting for someone to give him a reality check. A character that you want to see fail is at least a passable antagonist.
He's in the running with Thanos for the Gold Medal in stupidest evil plans though.
Moving on. I made the mistake of reading party chat in a dungeon to find out why they'd stopped. What is with these people!?
Huge greeting and thanks for the group macros. Endless amounts of cat sounds in words (Caticising? Catification? I'm sure there's an academic term for this somewhere), more "UwU" than should be allowed in a sentence. Calling other players "Cuties", Creepy flirting. Even one instance of sexual harassment, and it's only one because the rest of the time the other person wanted it!
And it's not a one off, it's all the time. Those were just the conversations from a few hours of doing roulettes. It's less a case of "weirdos I met online" and seems to be culturally embedded.
Honestly, I feel like I need a shower after grouping with these people and I'm not sure the slime will ever properly come off.

Here is something to believe in!
I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but there are things called “opinions” and I, along with everyone else who doesn’t live under Communism, are not only allowed to have opinions but to also speak them in person or on videos, and even post them of websites. It is the single worst expansion that I have ever played for any game and I’ve been playing video games since the Atari 2600 was brand-new. Heck, I can even remember when my parents bought it for my sister and I at a long-defunct chain of stores called Jamesway.
As for Wuk Lamat, I had no idea that she was voiced by a man. Your comment confused the crap out of me so I went and looked it up. So no, I didn’t do a damn thing, and the character is voiced by someone without talent whatsoever. That’s another of those things called “opinions” that people like you seem to believe that should not be permitted unless the opinion in question is exactly the same as yours.
Don’t ask me to explain my idiocy; I’m in my mid-40’s and still don’t understand it myself.
