Battle for Azeroth was literally a war. And you do remember that the OG crew were sex pests right?

What this really is about is people who are blinded by nostalgia and the feeling of playing the game for the firswt time. NOBODY is ever going to be able to bring that back. Alsol that OG crew than everyone lionized has their share of BS stuff as well. What really made those games great was the first time you ever stepped foot in that world like that. It had nothing to do with the content of the game.

The game is just so good, it's proof that you don't need to put out content all the time, just do something right and it'll be timeless.

Also, everybody is friendly and willing to socialize, make groups, and help each other. The whole "OMG people won't want to socialize anymore!" is such a lame argument, you just have to provide the need for it.
You only speak for you. And the people who are with are a fraction of what plays retail. YOu will NEVER get numbers like you did years ago by focgin them to socialize.

Yep. people want that first time feeling again. First time creating a level 1 human and go out into the world. We will never get that again. The closest thing we can get to that is by playing classic.

I get that itch now and again. Thing is, now I can scratch it.

For us that experienced wow all those years ago for the first time, we will never get that feeling again. For so many reasons.

And Blizz will never get those numbers now. Period. It's a basic principle in business that when you lose old customers they don't tend to return. I'm sure Blizz is aware of this hence "classic." But that's just to keep the company treading water until they can find a way to regrow their customer base. Another tactic is "Game Pass." But to me that's just a way to lower the attrition rate..

Because changes happen gradually, patch by patch and expansion by expansion, they can call it the same game when it's clearly not.

Sequels for currently popular online games are usually a big fail. It's much safer to just morph your game gradually over time.
Sequel for MMORPG usually means a drastical change of core mechanics. Cata did not change the core of WoW. To be honest, not a single WoW expansion did change a core of WoW. It is still an MMO from 2004.

The difference between WoW2 and WoW1 should be of the same scale as a difference between Guild Wars 2 and Guild Wars 1. So the only reason for Blizz to make a WoW2 is to change it's core gameplay, like combat, for example.
