    Underground Expansion

Recently, streamer Towellie has been teasing caves and kobolds on twitter as well as a direct statement that players expecting South Seas are thinking too much about "what's above the water".

Towellie has shown that he has some knowledge about future WoW content. With this in mind, how likely are we to be getting an underground or cave-themed expansion?

Towellie is a fat trogglodyte that acts like he has juice with blizzard devs

Streamers/content creators are people, too, and thus have dreams and wishes, of which even the well-educated ones don't usually come true.
But your duty to Azeroth is not yet complete. More is demanded of you... a price the living cannot pay.

Oh geez I fucking hope not. Zaralek Cavern was enough to make me never want to have anything to do with caverns in WoW.

Underground and underwater zones are garbage in any game. It is incredibly hard to make them fun.

Yes, because this was such an appealing theme:

    -_-

I remember people posting about him hinting at stuff before but I don't remember if he ended up being accurate. Anyone have links to his previous track record?

It was, tho? The Dungeon Run had so much flavor, they had ministories, they had the cool Neverending Story inspired video with Jerry Spencer.
The DnD theme was cool, the Legendary weapon were just as exciting as Legendary weapons in Legion, the new characters oozed flavor, the expanded Kobold lore was really well done and fitting in the universe. This is back when HS was still under Ben Brode, and when it was at it's peak.

It was a really cool theme that a lot of people enjoyed. (the cards and the gameplay they created wasn't nearly as much fun as the theme and the PvE content)

His track record is 0 with some obvious guesses being correct and some vague stuff that's always true and then refer to the specifics in hindsight.
But apart from that he's always wrong. He doesnt know anything.

Most recent example: 10.2 didnt get announced on 5 september like he was 'hinting' at
I will not reply to posts that are non-constructive or contain flaming and/or trolling.

As a Hearthstone expansion, not a WoW one. It is a lighthearted dungeon atmosphere. How much can you be excited about exploring a kobold cave in Elwynn Forest?

Who knows. WoW has more than enough material for an underground expansion. You could have a zone about trawling through the calcified cursed guts of an old god. Another zone that is a huge underground Nerubian city. Another zone that is the beating heart of Azeroth. And so on. The question is whether or not the devs actually care. As we've seen from the last decade of WoW, what the devs think is cool is often not aligned with the fandom's desires.

If we do get an underground expansion, I hope it looks good. Zaralek Cavern was lacking.

What I'm seeing of Zaralek Cavern looks very flat, which isn't as majestic.

Which is a shame, because they have made good looking underground expanses before, such as in the Nerubian dungeons in Wrath, or that vista at the end of Mechagon.

I loved Tangled Depths and Draconis Mons in GW2. The underwater combat was also neat.

Is Draconis Mons as mob-less, life-less as those screenshots indicate? Anyway, I'll yield you that one, but the other pics are concept art, some not even for a game. There's limits to not only what you can build in game, but also what's fun to traverse, especially when you're able to fly.

Yet, Vashj'ir remains one of the most popular zones in the game.
    Fact (because I say so): TBC > Cata > Legion > ShaLa > MoP > DF > BfA > WoD = WotLK

I liked the underwater zones in Cata. Would not mind to have an underwater expansion.

When did he show to have insider knowledge of the future of wow?

I do think an underground expansion is possible. I was thinking into that direction myself. My thoughts are that it has something to do with the Sargeras' sword in Silithus. I mean, the sword went deep into the earth. And what's underneath that earth at the location? The Qiraji came from underground. So that sword went through their lands as well. We know they were connected to Old God C'thun, but maybe there is more to that? Also a connection with the void perhaps. Sargaras was 'defeated' by the void. Maybe that is what they or we need to get his sword away also?
And if the Qiraji breaks the ground open at the sword, then we can go in. Zaralek Cavern was just a test zone, I think, if seamingless going into a large underground zone works.

This theory also matches this tweet of towelliee btw:
