You got your answer already. Let me throw a plug in for TitanBar. It will display the amount of gold you have on all characters in the bar (assuming all characters have the addon turned on).

That's an out of box feature from ElvUI as well. I got used to it years ago and can't use any other UI nowadays

You can try using the "GoldCounter" addon for that. It should display your gold amount on the screen.

Came in to mention titanbar, saw it was probably for retail. I think there's a fair few "information broker" bar type addons now anyway.
