World of Warcraft: Storming Abyss
New Continent: Khaz Algar, home to a race of Dwarves that Odyn infused with storm energy that he harnessed from the Thorignir Storm Drakes, they’re known as the Stormborn and act as our main faction throughout the expansion. We are brought there by Tyr and he and the Tyr’s Hand act as a main ensemble of characters.
6* new zones, four arranged in a fashion similar to the Dragon Isles; above ground and blending together with increasing elevation, with the highest zone being a frosty, mountainous region, and the lowest being an arid desert, more akin to a modernized Durotar/Gorgrond than Vol’Dun. The other two zones are a lush jungle and a storm-ravaged wasteland. The other two zones are underground, with one being beneath the frost region, and another being beneath the wasteland, both of these zones are next to each other, just the same as their corresponding above-ground zones.
The Wasteland will be home to another faction, a group of Arrakoa-like bird people called the Kenuran. They are initially hostile towards players but will be open to relations with them as time goes on. Whereas the Stormborn will be more drawn to the Alliance the Kenuran will be more drawn towards the Horde, this will serve as a starting point to reigniting faction tensions without sending them into a full-blown war. Almost nobody wants a repeat of Battle for Azeroth.
The dynamic events from Zaralek are going to be returning throughout all of the zones, with more difficult ones unlocking as you reach a higher level cap. You will also be able to seek out Heroic and even Mythic only dynamic events as your gear gets better.
*the zones are a bit smaller than they are in Dragonflight, but larger than many ones in the past.
No new classes but two new support specs will be added. Bard for Rogue and Banneret for Warriors.
The main city is Uldaz atop the frosty mountain region, combining Titanic and Dwarven architecture. The city is partially above ground and partially below, acting both as a hub city for players and as a method of getting to the mountain’s underground zone.
There will be 8 dungeons at launch and 1 raid named The Rising Storm. It takes place within Uldaz and sees the Stormborn splinter into two factions, the Stormriders who rebel against Odyn and utilize the Storm Drakes as mounts, and the Puremind who remain loyal to Odyn, shunning the others as being corrupted. Odyn is the final boss but he will escape.
World revamp is in the works but will not be ready by 11.0. However, it will be partially ready as Azuremyst, Bloodmyst, Eversong, and the Ghostlands will be added to the main continents, removing them from their BC/Outland purgatory. Yes, this means you’ll be able to fly in them. The retaking of Gilneas is planned for further down the line, as well as a Forsaken settlement of a fully cleansed Stratholme, turning it into a permanent settlement for them.
Dynamic Riding will be extended to all mounts that use Gryphon, Wyvern, and Dragon animation skeletons. More will be added in the future, but this is what will be done in time for launch.
