Gear is not an issue for this boss, I can see two/three things happening:
1. Less seeds / more defined pattern
2. More time to soak seeds
3. Possibly the inability to soak more than one seed (even by accident).
Everything other than seeds is tuned OK, it's just the seeds making this a nightmare.

People that think extra reset will make tswift fall easy think again, they vantus runed tswift, they wont vantused it next reset, so gear advantage is gone. I think guilds will need a minimum full day of prog after reclear...
I play this game pretty much since US beta in 2004? and since vantus is about ~2.5%? dmg increase and 1.5%? dmg decrease on average couple of item levels across all chars couple of ilvls cant be much more... i dont however raid / do m+ since legion so i might be wrong, but i bet im not wrong by much, how you want it to be portraited. i would guess reset will give them 3 or 4 ilvls on average and that is not that massive boost that everyone expects.
I think what you are missing is that the change to the way loot works in 10.1 and even more so 10.2 especially with crests has accelerated ilvl gain by week significantly. Beyond the Vault, everyone is also getting a second BiS item through crafting and enough crests to at the very least buff up their weapon drop to max ilvl.
seems like this boss really separates the 2 best from the rest of the pack
I honestly foresee another nerf to this boss, I doubt they'll clear this boss in a couple of hours, even with upgrades. The main reason they're wiping is not the damage or healing, it's the instant-wipe mechanics. That extra gear isn't going to magically make them survive it or push that 25% extra damage (considering we haven't seen enrage yet), only further training & execution will do that.
I'm positive Blizzard will make another adjustment (either to seeds or the boss HP) before it gets killed.

They've been actively lobbying Blizzard not to do this.
It's not a great viewer experience, but the guilds seem to be enjoying this kind of difficulty. It feels fair, it's not dominated by RNG bullshit or arbitrary gear requirements or any kind of number wall you just can't jump. It's just really tightly tuned really unforgiving mechanics embedded in a constant demand for big-dick performance. That's basically the ideal boss for these kinds of guilds.
As Max and others have pointed out on stream, any kind of substantial nerf would effectively turn this into an instant kill. Which is the last thing they want, and is in fact something they've actively complained about in the past - they want progression, not running into a wall for two days until a nerf drops and then they kill it in 5 tries. That's robbing them of the progression they play the game for in the first place.
Now, all that is for the world-first guilds only, of course. No question this boss will be SEVERELY nerfed down the line after the race is over.
