Thread: Shaman 2h

    Shaman 2h

    An ode to 2h enh.

In icy winds where spirits dance,
A longing heart, a whispered chance.
Oh, Blizzard, heed this humble plea,
Craft a tale for the brave, a 2H decree.

In realms of thunder, where elements clash,
    A Shaman's call, a resounding bash.
    Two-handed might, a sacred bond,
    Unleash the power, forge beyond.

With totemic grace and lightning's kiss,
A new spec born, in the storm's abyss.
The earth shall quake, the skies shall roar,
    2H Shaman rises, forevermore.

Through rolling hills and ancient lore,
A weapon grand, a lore to explore.
Bring forth the strength, the spirits' song,
In every swing, where heroes belong.

Embrace the winds, let echoes resound,
A path untrodden, on sacred ground.
For in the hands of a Shaman true,
    Two-handed tales shall anew.

Blizzard, weave the threads of fate,
In molten fire, at the Anvil's gate.
Grant this wish, let spirits soar,
    A 2H Shaman, forevermore.

I'm all for 2H Shaman, but if after countless posts and years they've pretty much ignored it...

It's kinda funny that this meme has endured for almost 20 years off the back of literally one guy making a PvP montage video when no one knew how to play the game and he had raid buffs and pocket healers, even more funny when he's keyboard turning and clicking frost shock in the video.

I remember my brother and I was really excited for 2h shammies when WoW launched. Sadly, once tbc hit, it was more or less made obsolete.. :/ Have held onto that dream of one day getting to play 2h shammy once more, but.. eh, its not happening for me.

It is? I played some Shaman in Vanilla, I want 2h Shaman, and I don't think I've seen that video.

That said, I don't really care on live. The fun part of 2h comes from the windfury procs, which won't be interesting on live.

Original 2h Enhance was the ultimate gambling spec and test of how long you could stay alive. Because it wasn't a matter of if Windfury would proc and kill someone. Just a matter of when it would proc and kill someone.

What originally started as a spec that went Enhance and elemental subspec eventually spawned another spec that went 30 pts Enh, 21 Restoration for Nature's Swiftness, and focused on staying alive as long as possible to ensure you got those procs off your auto-attacks.

Different game today, but still fire in Classic.

Unbreakable didn't cause 2h enhance...he just made it mainstream.

Can't we have it at least as cosmetic?

DH and Warriors can have the choice but Enha is FORBIDDEN !!!!!!!!

    Can not even use swords.

I think here in Midnight, they missed a bet. Enhancement Shamans could go back to being true to their name, especially with the Totemic Heroic talents and be an option for support with Augmentation Evokers. I could totally see the swap with the Hero tree, Windfury-dual-wield just fast striking melee DPS they are now for Stormbringer, and Totemic using a 2-hand hammer or polearm or even an agi staff (why, I don't know, but it could be fun to bring back some vanilla flavor).

well i played at those times and you can believe it or not but taking 5 ppls solo as a shaman with 2h weapon felt epic (stranglethorn valey expedition ganking times),
you get in started with shock and stunning fire nova + war stomp combo, that was been leaving one guy on half hp, usually WF proceed ~2 times per 10 sec so 1 is dead over ~5 sec before stuns end, then if you get lucky you could WF one shot second in 2-5 sec, on third you are getting low on HP but managed to get him to with shock+WF, then you ankh and repeat with last 2
    good times
i was been build as hybrid with mostly elemental tree for guaranteed shock crit burst with elemental mastery that toke ~30-40% of hp, then fight lasted till WF proc 80% of time (2x wf proc for tanks but they haven't been to problematic with rather low dmg output)
there were also 2h`s that could proc stun for 4 and 8 sec and there were no DR at a time (could literally keep guy in ~20 sec stun with a bit of luck), also high end gear was been pretty hard to obtain, on top of WF could straight chain proc of itself :P

tbh of all those years i had problem with 2 ppls in 1vs1 fights
mage that was been utilizing dazing/stunning engineer grandees like crazy and get me each time (its why i have engineering till today)
    and
warrior that had full pvp gear from some high PvP ranks and it was been 50/50 win rate

tl:dr there is seed of truth in each story and shaman was been really op in vanilla as a fact, if he could get to you and keep up for couple sec it was been force to recon (classic was been on different more modern engine and they removed possibility to chain proc WF)
you could ofc go without WF procs for quiet some time but weapon DMG was been a king back then so shocking + auto attacking with 2h while having stun, easy kite option and heal spell was been enough by itself more often than not

there is even a joke from those times
"there is big PvP raid of allays going for crossroads PvP action (what happens in XR stays in XR ),
RL sends scout to check things out
5 min passes he don`t come back
he sends 2 ppls to check it
5 min passes no one came back
he send 10 ppls just to be sure
5 min passes one barley living guy came back
    rl asks: what happened?
guy answer while catching breath: shaman there
rl: so? why you didn't finish him with 10 ppls?
guy: there were 2 of them... "

if you want to see stupid montage video i would point you to one made by some smart ass rogue from that era that was been fighting afk ppls (siting made guaranteed crit from ambush) & without pvp trinkets
if you pooped pvp trinket on kidney shot it was been 90% chance to win with rogue as a shaman

I'm all for adding it as a cosmetic choice!
It might look goofy, but let's be honest: everything does considering the speed at which our strikes are being animated.

I would however stray away from an actual 2h usability.
Enhancement overall is currently fighting an uphill battle due to blizzard's inability to balance their game to an acceptable degree after all.

    My wishlist:
    - enable 2h transmogs
    - make stormbringer viable again

Ye he was not really that kind of player.

Dude doesnt know circle strafe or keybinds, even at this time it was bad using your mouse. Also when stormstrike was on cd or frostshock, your auto attack missed more that it hit. You were a noodle outside of it. Always assumes it was for shit and giggles.
