I live around alot of Trump supporters it's not about abortion or nonwhites for most if not all of them. They see themselves currently paying double what they used to for groceries think its Bidens fault and that Trump is so brilliant since he was a business man that he will fix everything. Also there are alot of conspiracy theorists who see a "common man" fighting against a deep state and then see things like MSNBC editing a Joe Rogan clip to make it seem like he is endorsing Harris or making him look sickly yellow as proof.

I also don't see fixation on abortion or issues with nonwhites from Trump supporters. It's other culture war issues, and what they see on prices etc as being due to Biden. If these voters are going to be written off as unreachable, the argument should start from truthful foundations about why they aren't.

Just given the fluctuations in people that support Trump vs Biden and now Trump vs Harris, I would think the more rational stance is "There are still reachable people who were going to vote Trump a week ago, but have reconsidered their support for him and think Harris is the better candidate." The polls have been moving, and you're speaking as if Trump +1 to Harris +2 means something other than residents (of this state) have changed their mind from Trump to Harris.

I'd be very ready to join your position if polls were locked at (whatever) 47-46 for four months of Trump-Biden and then Trump-Harris. Or if you hedged a bit and declared that there's a dozen percentage points up for grabs that Trump or Harris could lose or gain.

I wouldn't necessarily say they are insane but more like they live and experience a different world that you do. For example for them the capitol riot was essentially nothing to them since 1. It was their side and they aren't bad people so clearly the rioters couldn't be bad people either. 2. it happened far away from them and didn't effect them directly so it couldn't be bad. Meanwhile the BLM protests were bad because they burned buildings they had to drive past on their way to work, they blocked the roads they took home/to work when they already had 2-3 hour commutes and they "didn't care" and protest when a white Austrailian women was shot by a black cop in the same area the year before. (If I remember right there was a smaller protest when it did happen but since it didn't effect people and didn't really go anywhere they essentially forgot it happened)

Trump did "help" them by having lower grocery prices than they do now. It doesn't matter if it was due to him or not because unless something effects you in some way most people tend to not remember alot about what happened years ago so effectively everything that happened under Trump was good or the fault of the dems.

I too live around a lot of Trump supporters but they are of the upper middle class variety. All of these people have college degrees and should know better but they vote for Trump because they cannot stand anything that might be described as “woke” or “politically correct” and they don’t want to pay taxes.

They are not overtly racist, sexist, or xenophobic but the above mentioned interests are more important to them than the harm Trump does to people of different races, nationalities, etc.

Reading these forums I am left with the impression that people heavily underestimate how plentiful these people are and how unlikely it is that their minds will ever change.

Mine are all rural and so I don't hear too much on the "woke"/"pc" stuff since it basically doesn't exist here. Like if you are LGBT+ in a rural area you move away once you can since you won't find a partner around your age or find other people going through the same stuff you are and I suspect the types of jobs available also makes it less likely that you have someone complaining that ___ took their job or that they have to call Tim Mrs. Sandy now or what ever.

I suspect alot of the people here on the forums live in a bubble and don't experience much of the world outside it. The other day I got down a rabbit hole of react videos while incognito browsing youtube and was watching 5 different youtubers react to the same video (1 white guy 4 black guys) and out of them when I went to look at their other videos 2 of the black guys went full Maga with hundreds if not thousands of videos and third went into conspiracy theories and shit. Not sure if the react content views died or what but it was crazy the difference in content a few years made.

That part is mostly true. Not only for Indians, but pretty much most Asians. My sister married a Vietnamese. When my sister gave birth to her first son, her mother-in-law moved in and pretty much raised the boys till they were old enough to go to daycare.
