Dude is going to eventually lead some sex cult and go to prison for sexual abuse, probably of a minor.
The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped form our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.

As a Wyomingite, the unadulterated hatred for Liz over not siding with Trump once is enough to justify voting for Harris out of pure fucking spite. Not to mention installing Hageman of all people after her.

So, Trump is doing the ole "If I win, I win. If I lose, I win." routine for the upcoming debate with Harris.

Trump tries to manage expectations for Tuesday’s debate by predicting media will say he was humiliated

Donald Trump wants his supporters to know that even if he loses his upcoming debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, he really won.

During a rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin on Saturday, Trump prepped his base, telling them that even if he does well in his debate with Harris, he'll still be blasted by the media.

"If I destroy her in the debate, they'll say Trump suffered a humiliating debate tonight," he told a crowd of MAGA faithful on Saturday.

While it's no secret that Trump – who for years has called members of the press enemies of the US and encouraged his crowd to boo them at his rallies — is regularly fact checked by reporters, few people leapt to Joe Biden's defense after his disastrous performance earlier this year.

Biden's poor debate performance — and the resulting pressure from the public, press, and other Democratic lawmakers — led to him ultimately dropping out of the presidential race in July.

Despite that, Trump is insisting that he'll be treated unfairly by the media after his upcoming debate. But that may just be expectation setting by the former president.

In addition to trashing the broader media, Trump has already specifically attacked the network hosting the debate, ABC News, calling it the "worst network in terms of fairness."

Some Republicans are privately afraid that Trump will blow his debate performance, according to a recent report from Politico.

“I think — I pray — he can be disciplined,” Tricia McLaughlin, a Republican strategist, told the outlet.

But she also admitted that her prayers may not be answered.

“If Trump feels like he’s backed into a corner and feels like it’s three on one, that could be a problem,” she said.

Trump's own words suggest her fears may be well founded.

Podcaster Lex Friedman, who tends to be friendly to right-wing guests, recently spoke with Trump and encouraged him to share a "positive vision of the future" rather than criticizing his opponent.

Senator Lindsey Graham expressed a similar position in a New York Times op-ed.

“Every day that the candidates trade insults is a good day for [Harris] because it’s one less day that she has to defend the failures of the Biden-Harris administration,” he said.

    Trump disagreed.

“Yeah, I think you have to criticize though,” he told the podcaster. “I think they’re nasty.”

Trump and Harris will face off on ABC on September 10 in Philadelphia at 9pm EST.

Keep in mind Trump has never won a political debate in the 21st century. Never. Clinton handed his ass to him. Biden made clear policy points and scathed the MAGAt/GOP leaded more than once in '20 and '24 (yes, even before Biden dropped out of the race). Trump can only word salad because he can't stay focused on one topic for more than 30 seconds, much less pay attention enough to an answer in order to for a retort (recall his people while he soiled the White House saying that all policy summaries had to be max 1 page - even my 8-year-old can follow a complicated argument/discussion for longer than that).

Trump ALWAYS has to manage expectations for a "debate" because he gets his ass handed to him every time. Harris...will kick his ass. The only determining factor will be how far her Jimmy Choos go up his ass.

If he's running a sex cult, there are definitely minors involved. He looks like the "age of consent is just a number" type.

Like I said earlier, I would resist the expectation of the perception being that Harris "owned" Trump. Not because she wont, because I'm almost certain that she will. But because Harris' supporters will expect her to articulate good points, which she will, and that Trump's supporters will expect him to rant and rave and shout. Which he will. And the media will call that a "draw" with minor concessions given to "both sides" to try and seem neutral.

In a media environment that is set to take Trump to task for a bad debate performance, Trump would never be there in the first place.

The root issue is that US political "debates" aren't anything of the sort. They're shared rallies. No one's penalized for lying out their ass or being abusive. No one's fact-checked to their faces. It's a horseshit process that fosters disinformation and propaganda, not informed discourse. They're so entirely performative that Harris detailing a concrete, functional plan will be utterly irrelevant. The only thing that matters is if she can embarrass Trump while not being embarrassed herself in return. She needs to make him look sad, weak, and pathetic, and mock him to his face, because while that may not win her much support, nothing she has to say would, but it's what carries a chance of convincing edge voters towards being too embarrassed by Trump to bother voting for him.

That's the only positive outcome you can get out of an American political debate. And it's what Trump's gonna be trying to do to Harris. That's the only reason he's showing up. So Harris has to show up ready to clown the fucker and mock him as he whines. She could lay out an entirely practical and worthwhile universal healthcare plan that will help all Americans for less than the government already spends, and it would matter far less than calling Trump a sad little weirdo right to his face.

    That's American politics for ya.

We thought Biden would rip Trump a new one too.
I sincerely hope for a different outcome...where my expectations are met.

First you get their hearts then they’ll give you their minds. Trump has lead an entire life manipulating others so much so he’ll believe it himself to a degree. But now that his brain is rotting that illusion is destroying his mind.

The problem is also with the forces behind Trump. They know exactly who, what he is and what he means. To those buying his shoes, hats, t-shirts and whatever else.

I’ve listen to many speeches from WW2 through out my life wondering how, how do smart intelligent people come up with no better options.

Anyways. As far as the debate I don’t know. Maybe Trumps unhinged behavior will endear him even more to those whose hearts he’s already captured. Ultimately what will that do at the polls. Silent majority or not.

My hope is Harris will counter that or inoculate it.

Biden may not have "ripped Trump a new one" but let's face it, Trump rambled like a coked up Daffy Duck, lies upon lies, and then Biden was slightly slow to speak and the media pounced on that alone and normalized Trump's madness once again.

Normalizing Trump's insanity is the sin qua non of the media's abusive relationship with their viewers.

    This.

Biden had a bad debate because he always had trouble speaking in public. He suffers from a stutter and, due to is age, more than likely has cognitive issues. I wouldn't expect him to do good in a debate as it was always his weak spot. He did state what some of his policies were though.

However, Trump did far worse as he didn't actually answer any of the questions asked. He answered all of them the same way. "ILLEGALS BAD!!! INFLATION CAUSED BY HIM!!!! THEY ARE COMING FOR YOUR JOBS!!!! RIGGED ELECTIONS!!!!"

If anything came from that, it was direct evidence that the media is pretty much phoning it in for Trump. Instead of being the "Forth Estate" and actually holding elected officials and candidates for office to task for their actions and their outright lies, they decide to just ignore pretty much the biggest liar of all. Yes, there are some that do fact check him but they need to do it actively when he says something that is an outright lie and not afterwards. Challenge him to his face and let him prove what he is saying is true.

I said it earlier in the thread. If he wins the election, I pretty much blame the media for this.

Trump goes on Truth Social to proclaim major victory: Harris can't stand on a box.

    "What?"

In the debate. She has to stand on the floor, not a box.

"...in what world is that a major victory?"

No boxes or artificial lifts will be allowed to stand on during my upcoming debate with Comrade Kamala Harris. We had this out previously with former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg when he was in a debate, and he was not allowed a ‘lift’. It would be a form of cheating, and the Democrats cheat enough. ‘You are who you are,’ it was determined!
"No, really, why is this a major victory?"

I don't think you really understand how important it is to Trump that Harris can't stand on a box. He immediately had to tell everyone.

"But the camera will only rarely show them both at once! And everyone knows most men are taller than most women anyhow. The height means nothing."

It does to Trump. He's really stoked that Harris can't stand on a box. This is so bigly for him, so yuge.
