I haven't watched the debate, but the overall media reaction suggests Harris won it with a competent performance, albeit winning on points rather than a decisive knockout. Seems she got Trump rattled but dodged a few questions. Is that a fair reading of it? Not sure if want to sink 90 minutes of my life into it. I guess there's always 1.5x speed.

To summarize:

Trump, as always, is his own worst enemy. I think it was a slow start for Kamala - she seemed pretty nervous - but Trump took the bait early on and was just a broken record replaying his Greatest Hits. He literally used a meme ffs. From there Kamala gained some confidence and sailed to a pretty easy victory. I wouldn't say she was amazing more so that Trump was just terrible and Kamala was mostly competent.

I'm still flabbergasted people think trump was 3v1'd when the moderators only sparingly fact checked (just a few of his most heinously weird lies) but they also allowed trump to respond to anything he wanted while leaving Kamala to circle back later. Honestly it was fine but definitely felt less Harris biased. Maybe I'm just biased myself in some sort of biasception.

I don't think the moderators allowing him to keep ranting was doing him any sort of favor. I would say the debate was "biased" against him, in the same sense that a court focused on truth and justice is "biased" against a guilty criminal.

That's a fair reading; I do have my own biases in hearing Trump talk makes me want to jam q-tips into my ears deep so I'll definitely agree him talking only hurt him in this debate. They were better than the Biden debate though IMO.

Come on guys, Trump is clearly a genius. Take this for example, a few days ago at the New York Economic Forum, when asked about child care:

Real talk here. Anyone else scared for pets in Ohio right now? I'm not talking about from immigrants. That's just false and a lie. I'm talking about pets from Trump-supporting pet owners who the pets are going to be killed and suddenly "disappear" so that they can get on national news and claim they saw their pet being abducted by an immigrant?

Will there be one or two? Probably. But when it is found out they did it on purpose and actively harmed their pet, they go to jail for animal cruelty.

One rule when dealing with the crazy crowd, never assume there isn't a crazier stance they will take. Wouldn't surprise me if they were to eat it themselves just to go that extra mile.
