Scientific American publicly endorses Kamala Harris.

It's the second endorsement they've given in 179 years. The other was Biden 2020.

    "Ah, so they've gone woke!"

Scientists have been "woke" before the term existed and became being "informed, educated and conscious". But 2020 was after COVID when one candidate was trying to kill Americans. This isn't about being woke, this is about survival.

That map I posted earlier had a key showing distance at the top.
The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped form our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.

Is the media (who wants trump to win) and republicans desperate to push the "assassinaton attempt" story as the Most-Important-Story-In-The-World?

When Biden was behind by 2% it was considered a "he must drop out of the race" level crisis that warranted constant news stories on front pages. But in a much worse polling environment for Trump the press still acts like he is in a comfortable position to win.
With post-debate polling having Trump down at the moment by anywhere from 4-8%.
Trump holding fewer campiagn functions per week. He's not visting Wisconsin The Required Amount of Time.

I still say polling is broken even though its nice to see it confirm my personal biases.

Once you teach your "followers" that violence is the answer, it shouldnt surprise anyone that when they stop following you(for real or imaginary reasons) they continue to think violence is the answer.

The Electoral College gives the GOP an advantage that must be taken into account. The Democrats need to win the popular vote, just to break even.

That's the problem with fascists. All they really know, is violence. Well, that... and whining about losing.

Why you think the chuds are so obsessed with being able to own semi auto weapons and armories worth of ammo? No one ever accused them of having great aim.

"I need a fully automatic weapon for hunting, cause I can't shoot for shit" is indeed the common reaction to why anything other then a bolt action rifle is required.

    https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/17/polit...ric/index.html

A week after President Barack Obama won reelection in November 2012, JD Vance, then a law student at Yale, wrote a scathing rebuke of the Republican Party’s stance on migrants and minorities, criticizing it for being “openly hostile to non-whites” and for alienating “Blacks, Latinos, [and] the youth.”

Four years later, as Vance considered a career in GOP politics, he asked a former college professor to delete the article. That professor, Brad Nelson, taught Vance at Ohio State University while Vance was an undergraduate student. After Vance graduated, Nelson asked him to contribute to a blog he ran for the non-partisan Center for World Conflict and Peace.

Nelson told CNN that during the 2016 Republican primary he agreed to delete the article at Vance’s request, so that Vance might have an easier time getting a job in Republican politics. However, the article, titled “A Blueprint for the GOP,” remains viewable on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.

“A significant part of Republican immigration policy centers on the possibility of deporting 12 million people (or ‘self-deporting’ them),” Vance wrote. “Think about it: we conservatives (rightly) mistrust the government to efficiently administer business loans and regulate our food supply, yet we allegedly believe that it can deport millions of unregistered aliens. The notion fails to pass the laugh test. The same can be said for too much of the party’s platform.”

Twelve years later, as former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Vance espouses many of the same anti-immigrant postures that he criticized back in 2012 as a 28-year-old law school student. In recent days, Vance has amplified baseless claims against Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio.
Republicans reinvent themselves constantly, it seems.

'Ol Jay Dee Hamel is asking his former liberal elite college professors to delete old blog posts where he's critical of Republicans and Republican policy.

But asked on Sunday about his previous criticism of Trump’s immigration posture, Vance argued Trump’s immigration rhetoric was actually the reason he changed from a Trump critic to supporter.

“The reason that I changed my mind on Donald Trump is actually perfectly highlighted by what’s going on in Springfield,” Vance said. “Because the media and the Kamala Harris campaign, they’ve been calling the residents of Springfield racist, they’ve been lying about them. They’ve been saying that they make up these reports of migrants eating geese, and they completely ignore the public health disaster that is unfolding in Springfield at this very minute. You know who hasn’t ignored it? Donald Trump.”
Ok, so that's why he's deleting old blog posts that contradict everything he's saying 12 years later, gotcha.

He's like a fucking osmium anchor, it's astounding.

is live fact-checking Vice President Kamala Harris’ panel interview in Philadelphia hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists. Follow along here and on social media with the hashtag NABJfactcheck.

Watching this right now and Kamala is such a horribly, bad politician. She can't answer the Springfield question setup for her and she is rambling about police resources and just so boring.

I see why they don't want her to do interviews.

    Also a stupid claim.

A viral narrative suggesting Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are stealing residents’ pets or taking wildlife from parks for food surfaced on social media this week without any credible evidence.

A post on Facebook, opens new tab sharing the narrative included an image with the text: “Springfield Ohio residents are warning their pets and wildlife like ducks and geese are being eaten by Haitians.”

Springfield Mayor Rob Rue on Monday said claims of geese or ducks from parks being killed and eaten are unsubstantiated, opens new tab, according to a Springfield News-Sun report.

In interviews last month, following claims at a city commission meeting that Haitians were cooking wildlife taken from local parks, a city official said they had not been able to verify any of those reports and described them as "false" and "misleading" information amplified by social media.

Spokespeople for JD Vance did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Vance on Tuesday acknowledged the claims were not substantiated in an X post, opens new tab. "It's possible, of course, that all of these rumors will turn out to be false," he said, before blaming healthcare, housing and education issues in Springfield on Haitian immigrants.
Yes, Vance is spreading what he not just knows admits are unconfirmed rumors. And he admits he's spreading them anyhow.

Goose used to be the traditional British Christmas dinner, before ham and turkey became more popular. Domestic geese are meat animals.

I've had it once or twice instead of turkey, and a number of people in my general area raise gesse. Its super easy, they'll make noise just like guard dogs, you can harvest eggs in the right season, and as long as you feed them theyll stick around.

Also, ducks are just assholes. You tell me migrants are eating them from parks and I'll send them some knives and forks.

He was more than 2 points behind in a lot of polling post-debate, for the record. He was down 4-5 points in several swing states, and IIRC there was even one MI poll that had him down 7. One of the key factors that contributed to him dropping out was reportedly an internal campaign poll showing he had lost his path to victory, coupled with the simple fact that there isn't a viable pivot strategy for aging.

That said, it's nice to see Harris starting to cross the 5 point threshold and get out of the margin of error in national polling, even if the battleground polling is still way too tight. I have no doubt she'll win the popular vote at this point, it's just a shame that doesn't mean victory.

Incidentally, I was actually contacted by Ipsos yesterday and got mildly excited, but it seemed like it was just market research for migraine medication and I was quickly screened out.

Please, Democrats, stop with the rhetoric! Stop with this hate-oh... that's...

    ... oops.

Seriously. This guy has an actual chance at winning. This guy?!

Is he engaged in bestiality? Does he remember his wife, at least his wife legally, is an immigrant? Well, he'd have formally engaged in it, I don't believe the two have shared a bed in a long while, maybe as long as 18-19 years?

Willing to sell out for power, to the point where he essentially indirectly sold out his wife by joining a party that is racist to the core.

Is it weird that I'm most of all interested in her, Vance's wife, actual real heartfelt thoughts on that?
