I mean my statement still stands - Trump has a proven record now of brutally attacking former allies. It just boggles my mind that this shocks anyone at this point.

It's very similar to people who believe when Trump says something then is totally shocked when it turns out he's a big fat orange liar. What sort of alternate universe do these people live in. I just can't understand it.

Well when all the guy you’re voting for ever has is “the concept of a plan” you’re free to fill in the blanks of what he’s going to do and how he’s going to do it, however you imagine it to be!

I know this is a bit tongue in cheek but I really do wonder if Trump has anyone actually advising him or just a bunch of cheerleaders/harem girls like Laura Loomer.

Cause I feel like SOMEONE should be telling Trump that talking about eating cats, giant faucets in Canada, and attacking Taylor Swift are not good strategies. But we all also know Trump doesn't listen. To anyone.

    True enough.

I got into it the other day online with some Trump supporters who were trying to claim Trump was the better candidate for LGBT rights.

In the context of the conversation someone actually said "the 4 years under Trump were the best for this country."

And it was a reminder that these people will believe absolutely anything - no matter how ridiculous.

More on "Jay Dee Hamel knows hes lying" from Rolling Stone - https://archive.is/u54SC

    A good start!

    Oh...not so good.

Jay Dee Hamel is spreading a lie, that he knows is a lie, that's bringing domestic terror to his constituents. Intentionally.
Feels less like the moment some panicky racist assholes actually takes action against a Haitian immigrant instead of just making bomb threats to schools, they'll have a pretty open and shut defamation case. It's rare that there's such a blatant evidence of knowingly lying with reckless disregard for the truth.

Very much not, that wouldn't be defamation to begin with and given that Jay Dee and Donald aren't calling for any specific action they'd be remain very safe, especially given the apparent legal and judicial terror over Donald possibly suffering even the most mild of consequences for his behavior.

Lying, lying maliciously, and bigoted, hateful lies, are largely still protected First Amendment speech. Hence why the KKK and Nazi groups can continue existing, operating, meeting, and spreading lies.

The Teamsters appear primed to announce their support for the face-eating leopard.

The Teamsters union on Wednesday said polling shows most of its members back Republican former President Donald Trump's bid for a new term in the White House over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.

The 1.3 million-member union said its executive board plans to announce later on Wednesday who it is endorsing in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

The union said a national electronic poll of its members from July 24-Sept. 15 showed rank-and-file Teamsters voted 59.6% to endorse Trump compared with 34% for Harris.
Really impressive stuff to see so many union members back the party that spent decades trying to dismantle unions and is still doing their level-best to accomplish that goal.

    https://apnews.com/article/russia-di...daad29516b1f7f

The video was seen millions of times across social media but some viewers were suspicious: It featured a young Black woman who claimed Vice President Kamala Harris left her paralyzed in a hit-and-run accident in San Francisco 13 years ago.

In an emotional retelling from a wheelchair, the alleged victim said she “cannot remain silent anymore” and lamented that her childhood had “ended too soon.”

Immediately after the video was posted on Sept. 2, social media users pointed out reasons to be wary. The purported news channel it came from, San Francisco’s KBSF-TV, didn’t exist. A website for the channel set up just a week earlier contained plagiarized articles from real news outlets. The woman’s X-ray images shown in the video were taken from online medical journals. And the video and the text story on the website spelled the alleged victim’s name differently.

The caution was warranted, according to a new Microsoft threat intelligence report, which confirms the fabricated tale was disinformation from a Russia-linked troll farm.

The tech giant’s report released Tuesday details how Kremlin-aligned actors that at first struggled to adapt to President Joe Biden dropping out of the race have now gone full throttle in their covert influence efforts against Harris and Democrats.
eyy, this is my neck of the woods and I saw some idiots posting about this! All the locals were pretty quick to debunk it since like, the site is fake as fuck and it's hilariously bad, at least.

But more actual evidence that Russia is going big for Trump and after Harris, despite their public claims otherwise. How do you know the Kremlin is lying? Because they're speaking, that's how.

Edit: The Teamsters, taking a firm position, will not endorse a candidate for POTUS for the first time in three decades.

If nothing else, let it be said that Miles O'Brien was a union man. Unlike Sean O'Brien, apparently.

Breaking News: The Federal Reserve slashed rates by 50bp! <Finally> Admiting what others have been saying for awhile, that We've tamed inflation without a recession.
Big vindication for Bidenomics, which is Government Spending is just better at creating jobs growth than waiting for Private Capital Oligarch Spending to spur jobs growth.

    Bad Day for:

Trump calling for government shutdown, while Republicans are still contemplating this.

I just don't see why voters cannot see that Republicans don't want to govern, headed by a person who is openly proclaiming to sabotage the government. But carry on I guess.

I'm not sure sometimes if the Dems never run on "we need Congress" strongly enough or it's the voters. Yet, this should be a strong message to me again basically saying "Republicans don't want to govern". Here we are...again.

Oh and I will add Republicans are upset the Fed is going to drop interest rates, possibly a big drop(?). Of course they cry this is and election stunt, which again the Prez has no control. Once more let's eff the country and voters won't connect 2 and 2 together realizing that rates dropping will be great and one party doesn't want it.

Oh look I get an example: JD Vance fans in North Carolina boo the news that the Fed has cut interest rates

Vance is right that 1/2 point is not enough, but of course the Fed would never go crazy and cut by a point or whatever.

I'd say that's implicit support for Harris from the leadership, given that the rank and file seem to support Trumpy.

I hate O'Brien, he really does seem shady at best. This is the guy who almost had a fist fight with Oklahoma Senator, who you will never guess is an anti-labor piece of shit.

Now the part here is O'Brien just met with Harris and passed. She could have done a horrible job at pitching how pro-labor she was going to be. I know, I know, they said the much pro-labor shit, especially with Walz.

O'Brien staying neutral was him clearly wanting to endorse Republicans me thinks, but couldn't. Now I always contend that don't be surprised the average union worker that probably leans 40-50% Republican voters. Hey this is Mmmerica, we vote against our interests all the time.

Hey now if you take one look at Elon Musk it becomes hard to disagree with that Trump statement, at least for one single immigrant.

The unfortunate problem with expecting any large shift in the allegiance of the “leopards eating people’s faces” party members is that the leopards need to specifically eat their face or the face of someone they, specifically, know. They’re otherwise completely oblivious and uncaring of the fact that the incidence of leopards eating people’s faces has gone up.

Yeah the die hards may be a lost cause, but not all of them are unswayable. Honestly Trump's support is subcultural in part and that can be broken down if it seems like the majority of Americans are supporting Harris rather than Trump. A lot of people are basically sheep.

Also a lot of males who vote Trump are not into the big loser energy he is projecting. It adversely impacts their alpha male rhetoric.

It's like that in a few unions. BLET and SMART-TD Unions that represent the engineers and conductors on all of the US's Class 1 railroads are exactly the same. They think that Trump is going to remove taxes from overtime pay, that the price increases on groceries and such are the fault of Democrats, and have absolutely no idea how tariffs work. Then when leadership slaps them back into reality with who is helping make their lives easier by pushing for stronger collective bargaining rights -- they whine about how weak the union is catering to "The Company". You can't help how stupid and detached from reality these folks can be.

I'm super sure Europe will go for this. Definitely. Give the entirety of the EU forced American values! And then make sure their defense via NATO is contingent on that. They'll jump at the opportunity.

JD Vance says the United States’ support for NATO should be contingent on Europe’s support for Elon Musk and Twitter.

It's just such a fucking batshit crazy thing to say to begin with, lol.

At this point I assume he took the job largely because he was the only person willing to commit to going out and defending every single dumbass, bigoted thing Donald said during the campaign when they quizzed the potential VP picks on what they'd be willing to defend during interviews.

Truly, he's quickly jumped into a leading position in the weird competition Congressional Republicans keep having for, "Dumbest person in Congress". It's just hard to keep track of who's in the lead with Vance/Hamel, Boebert, Tubberville, Greene, Gosar etc. all competing and giving it their level-best.

So uh...Rudy was at Donalds rally screaming about how he's going to find people who are attacking...something. I assume there's some context to make this less insane, but it really is just America's Mayor, who is currently in the midst of bankruptcy following being found guilty of defamation and who IIRC also lost their degree to practice law, sorta just standing behind a podium screaming into a mic.

Separately, Jay Dee Hamel is asked about his reaction to the .5% interest rate cut which will help a lot of folks. As he begins to reply, there is a chorus of "boos" from his supporters behind him.

He argues a half a point isn't much, which makes sense since he is not an economist and also actually an idiot.

Anyways, nobody hates America and their fellow Americans like Republicans hate America and their fellow Americans. They show us, and tell us, daily.

    - - - Updated - - -

    https://thehill.com/homenews/campaig...igration-poll/

Also worth keeping in mind -

More than half of all Americans, including a quarter of Democrats, support the mass deportation of immigrants who are living in the country illegally, a new poll found.

The Scripps News/Ipsos survey’s findings come as former President Trump and his allies have intensely focused on immigration in the 2024 election cycle.

About 54 percent of respondents — 86 percent of Republicans, 58 percent of independents and 25 percent of Democrats — said they “strongly” or “somewhat” support a wide-scale effort to deport millions of immigrants, and 59 percent said they are closely following the “immigration situation at the U.S.-Mexico border.”

The survey also found that 39 percent of respondents named immigration a top issue for them this election year — second only to inflation.
We can hem and haw about how ridiculous this is, about how mass-deportations would have a huge net-negative effect that people don't realize both in the immediate and longer term, that people are very likely lying about "closely following" the situation at the border or whatever, the immigration is one of the top issues actually impacting Americans on a day-to-day basis, second only to inflation, but this is what the "average American voter" believes. This is the electorate Democrats have to work with. One that overall still very much trends fairly conservative on a broad number of issues, or at the very least internalizes Republican talking points and rhetoric.
