* - Any time a wealthy person publicly donates money it should be viewed as an act of publicity. The amount of money spent on one Swift show dwarfs the amount of money she donates back. The entirety of that money could've been easily donated to local charities and your local community would be better for it.

This ain't it. Doing a good thing for the wrong reason is still doing a good thing. Complaining about anyone giving to a charity for any reason should be a red flag you have lost your way somewhere.

Sure, make arguments about people shouldn't be allowed to get wealthy because profit is the devil - but complaining about charitable giving? Naw. Let's not do that. Let's applaud and encourage that - refocus your hatred in a better direction.

Also - just a note that if people aren't allowed to accumulate wealth then charities would likely mostly cease to exist.

They keep providing the exact same example without realizing what it means. If you give money to one specific area, that means you’re also denying that money to something else. Since there’s a billionaire leech somewhere in this equation I would suggest trying to avoid the leech. Funny thing about music is that’s very easy to avoid giving a musician money if you don’t like them. I don’t like Jeff Bezos but it’s pretty hard to avoid giving him money.

Now this is an actually good idea. Don’t give money to shit bird locations and also shit bird hotels. Also don’t give money to Starbucks, Shake Shack, Ronaldo or Taylor Swift.

I like my chai latte, and I also like burritos, unhealthy milkshakes, and even Amazon. I also don't consider them leeches, as per the data. I make a point to avoid going to places whose main leadership are in the bag for the party that endorses the self-professed Nazi. I don't like states like Florida and Texas, so I won't go visit them. If North Carolina decides to turn blue this election, I won't mind spending money there. If Georgia is blue, then I may spend money there, so long as they murder all the mosquitos, first.

Miss South Carolina appears to be engaged in electoral interference in Nebraska.

Apparently South Carolina, Senator Lindsey Graham visited Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen, Secretary of State Bob Evnen, and about two dozen other Republican legislators to discuss how the state allocates its electoral votes.

It appears as though Lindsey is trying to get them to move away from splitting their electoral college votes and going to a "winner-takes-all" system.

MAGA is so desperate that they want to change the electoral college to get Donald Trump elected.

If Maine wanted to change how it awards electoral votes, it should have done it in April. It is too late now for the 2024 election.

Back in April, when the Nebraska idea was first gaining steam, Maine’s Democratic House Majority Leader Maureen Terry issued a statement indicating that if Nebraska made such a move, she would push for a like-for-like move in her state, which delivered one electoral vote to Trump in 2016 and 2020.

[Democratic] Gov. Janet Mills would be required to call a special session of the legislature. But the stickier wicket is in the timing: A bill only becomes law in Maine 90 days after it’s passed, unless the bill receives a two-thirds vote in each chamber (Democrats currently have majorities, but not supermajorities). We’re 46 days away from Nov. 5, and 87 days from Dec. 16, when electoral votes are set to be cast.

The waiting period for a new law to take effect in Nebraska is only 7 days.

Georgia’s State Election Board on Friday voted to approve a new rule that requires poll workers to count the number of paper ballots by hand.

The board voted 3-2 to approve the rule, going against the advice of the state attorney general’s office, the secretary of state’s office and an association of county election officials. Three board members who were praised by former President Donald Trump during a rally last month in Atlanta voted to approve the measure.

Reminds me of the bullshit pulled up in Shasta County, CA, where they've been charging full-speed towards this same thing (with the help of Mike Lindell) and have run into budget issues because they didn't realize that it would cost a lot to hire a lot of people to count ballots that machines count more quickly, and accurately, at a much cheaper cost.

U.S. Reps. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) and Adrian Smith (R-Neb.) said they believed the push for a winner-take-all result remained three votes shy in the Nebraska legislature as of Friday morning.
