Incredibly mid. I doubt it moved the needle. I feel like Walz has really been hamstrung by having to parrot Harris's centrist positions. He was more interesting before the DNC when he had more latitude to focus on issues he was passionate about. Every time he had to advocate for some neoliberal position he stumbled.

Thing is, you literally have to be adversarial with Trump. There is no other way to even talk to Trump.

A lot of the issues being discussed were inacted by Trump, carried over by Biden with slightly less racist undertones, and being attributed to Harris as if she was President. The whole debate was a mess. Walz had to represent Harris. Harris's positions arent necessarily his and thats why he choked up often. If Harris wasn't an idiot he would hammer in on (and the debate this address some of this) that quite a few Biden/Harris positions were Trump positions in a blue ribbion. We're in another appeasement cycle. If that keeps Trump from office, whatever. Its not going to get people excited though.

Pretty much everyone here is going to vote. I always try to see stuff from the average voter. The ones who typically aren't paying attention and statistically don't vote anyway. Democrats rely on these people to come out. Those people don't come out, they aren't going to take off on their breaks, forget to turn in their ballots, etc, if they feel politicans are doing the same song and dance. I curious to see if people turned the channel based on CNNs first question.

First poll I saw showed 42% say Vance won, 41% say Walz won, 17% say tie.

Walz's and Vance's favorability ratings both improved. Walz went from 52% to 60% favorability, however Vance went from 40% to 49%. Walz's cordiality might have helped humanize Vance and made him come across more normal.

During the debate, there was a slightly major gaffe by Walz that he needs to get out in front of as Trump sure as hell picked up on it.

Walz - "I am friends with school shooters."

Yes, he did say it even though he probably wanted to say friends with people who were harmed by school shooters. However, expect Trump to have an hour long speech about that at his next 4 hour long rally.

They got Walz with 1 outright lie. The other was an exaggeration. The ones they got Vance on were pretty much outright lies.

An exaggeration, for anyone trying to say that some of Vance's are, is something that is small to moderately over presented to show it is bigger. A lie, in the same context, is one that is so massively different that there is no possible way it could be true.

I'm pretty sure anyone who even tangentially follows baseball is entirely aware of why Pete Rose isn't in the hall of fame. Looks like the October surprise for Dems is Bibi starting wars with literally every country in missile range of Israel. The Trump camp knows Israel's warmongering hurts Dems in the polls, and the more violent bibi gets with Dems continuing to support him, they know it's going to drive away a lot of the progressive vote.

Of course if Trump wins, he plans on handing the key to the armory chest over to bibi and letting him conquer what's left of gaza and the west bank, but I'm sure the progressives will feel smug satisfaction that they didn't 'personally' contribute to the Palestinian holocaust.
