I wonder why people are always so upset about the trading post.

It's a feature that's supposed to cause some sort of fomo, making you want to be present every month and get all available trader tender.
Now. Do you WANT it to appeal to you every month to the point you have 0 tender, a frozen item and you give in to buy some special offer with 500 extra tender just so you can get more of the things you want? Or what is it that you want, exactly?

So much anger about some feature that requires almost no effort and has no downsides if you don't like anything. Unless you're specifically subbing for it, in which case, it's REALLY weird and I suppose they accomplished their goal.

Either way, remember that this is ultimately a game. If the only reason you're subbing is to get stuff from a shop, then you're not "playing", just "getting". And if you ARE playing the game, then it's no skin off your back if you don't like anything - you can save your tender for other months or you can ignore its existance completely. Besides, not like you are the only target of this game, other people like different things. Maybe the majority like flowers, we don't know. I do know though that the Sailor Moon set was a massive success with everyone in my guild, so...

In no reality was this month’s mouse pet the thing most people would spend tenders on. And now we’re getting another pet reward.
Not liking the offerings on any given month is subjective. Pretending battle pets are the most popular thing these months is Objectively false.
Pretty sure pets are the second thing people collect the most after mounts.

See this guy gets it. Not every month is gonna be a winner, but some months are gonna be stacked, regardless of anyones personal taste. I could not have cared less about the Love Witch stuff, and that's fine. There were people who loved it, and that's fine too. There have been, and will be months that I want to buy out everything, and somebody else may hate taht same selection. This also, is fine.

When I was playing WoW I found a good transmog for my main and then stopped caring about transmogs. Unless you're a compulsive collector or wardrobe switcher, what's the point?

That's the point. It does require almost no effort, the only real effort required is your participation in a monthly activity+card swipe.
I suppose I don't really like the engagement it wants from me. It's like paying my rent IRL.
It's like when you're playing a mobile game and you get these +5 free gems popups and you really just wanna play the game but you want the "free gems".
But as long as the per expansion content isnt reduced in quality, or maybe if it's even increased due to people really liking the trading post then I'm glad it exists.
I really just don't like missing out on it and I don't want it as an excuse to play the game when I don't want to play the game, even tho I'd love to have the cosmetics in the future, that's the annoying part I prefer less fomo content, not more fomo content.

never got the appeal or joy of Cosmetics.

Paying money for slightly different pixels to look at, is one of the largest wastes of money that i can think of.

Who is spending money on trading post currency?

Like even the people that do have bonus trading post currency from the shop likely have it because they wanted the thing is was bundled with not because they specifically wanted to buy it.

Wild ass post for a currency you mostly get just for being subbed and playing the game.

    Now it's because of spring.

Well... I feel like the whole year is spring in Post Trading.

Where are the xmogs for people who just want WAR-craft sometimes and not Flower-Craft??

Even the "normal xmogs" are a joke. Shark hat???

    C'mon....
    Oh no!
    Anyway..

I've never bothered with mogs, I just wear the gear. Who spends time looking at their character anyway?

Sounds like you aren't an active WoW player? I mean, we're talking Trading Post, all there is basically free.
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..

Good lord, what will we find to complain about next. You understand that Trading Post is strictly cosmetic, right? Do you understand that many different people play WoW, with many different tastes? You don't like flowers. Some people love flowers. We got by for years without Trading Post; anything any of us get from it is a bonus.

The question is, to who do flower cosmetics and cheesy "lovely duckling" pets actually appeal to? It appears to be a ridicolously small minority which justifies the question, why is such content created.

Dude, during February I saw hundreds of players running around in the Valentine style gear from the Trading Post. Even the hardcore edgelord Orc players with names like Bloodkill was using that stuff. I have no doubt we will see the same with this stuff.

Sometimes players just like to dress up silly, and other times they just want to look pretty. It's not like Noblegarden has ever been serious, considering the bunny ears have always been popular.

    Also, who doesn't like ducks?

I think you brought it on point for yourself and that is fine (forgetting mounts and pets, but ofc the point applies if you found the perfect mount already as well)

I have many, many characters and are always on the look out for new stuff. Soooo....the tender comes in automatically by doing whatever we are doing...and people can spend it or just ignore it.

Technically that should still lead to complaints like this on MMO-C:

"I hate the pop up that reminds me, there is a trading post"
"I hate the NPC that tells me to check out things on the TP"
"I tis wasted dev time and wastes my sub money"
..and apparently what OP giot banned for ^^

In the case of THAT game, I think I'd be so appalled about the entire cash shop structure that I don't even play it ^^

Yes. I do remember first months had really great rewards. Active and past few are just 10% okish and 90% trash. IMO

Because there maybe is demand for silly/cute gear?

All the serious and badass-looking gear comes from places like... oh right, the entire rest of the game, so let people who want it have some silly and/or cute stuff to dress their characters up with.

I agree to some extend that the trading post is somewhat disappointing the last few months. Hearts, Pirates and Flowers feel a bit like lazy choices. But then again, if I look at how many people bought and use the 'Love is in the Air' stuff, it does look like it is a hit with a lot of players.

Personally I do like the shoulder capes, but I’m certainly not gonna buy all colors.

What I’d like to see is the Overwatch (1) approach. With each event you were able to buy all the stuff that was released in the prior year(s) with a 50% discount. That would cut out the fomo. Even without the 50% discount it would be a hugh plus if all the stuff of last year would be available again on a known date.

I ask myself the same about the umpfteenth mount of any given category - and here I am again, killing that Noblegarden Boss for the carpet..although I only ever used a carpet on my tailor, when it was unique to that profession.

    I know...it is a "me" problem

Thing is i just doubt many people want it. Why? Because i think i have a good feeling about the average persona playing this game. On the other side i see nowadays in the entertainment industry there are obvious agendas and "streams" which appear to feminize and infantilize games, movies and tv shows and i regard ducklings and flower transmog as just another prove of this.

My point is, if there is no or little demand but still an offer, something smells.
