Blizzard Entertainment is back at Gamescom 2024

Cancelled for 2024. Unlikely to return if you ask me, but not officially cancelled indefinetly. So makes sense they go to gamescom this year instead.

There's been years without Blizzcon in the past. The reason they kept it coming back was cause it made them money. There's no reason now because there won't be another expansion reveal this year.

It will come back when they are ready to reveal the contents and features of Midnight.

I think it's a bit of Column A, a bit of Column B. I do think a major contributing factor to no BlizzCon is that they simply don't have much to announce; but my slightly cynical intuition is that they probably shitcanned a lot of the people who made BlizzCon possible with the MS merger so they need that extra year to get people back into planning positions. Absence also makes the heart grow fonder so skipping this year has the knock-on effect of making a 2025 BlizzCon that much more hype.
