The idea that Youtube removed dislikes to protect corporations from bad press is quite amusing. Guess the "potential customer" lives deep in the woods and the only thing he sees are Youtube likes and dislikes, while being completely oblivious to things like reddit, imdb, metacritic, rotten tomatoes and what not.
So let me get this straight.
If you were on a porn site and were looking for a specific thing in the search box, and then you were shown a list a thumbnails, some of them rated as low as 25%, you would click on one those thumbnails only to hear some Russian guy commenting over the video, because you really didn't care the video is rated so low.
Or perhaps you're into that sort of thing. "Oh yeah, Vladimir, you tell me what's going on on the screen!"
Why do you think people review bomb? Maybe because the content contains something that a hell of a lot of people don't like? So if a hell of a lot of people don't like something, don't you think there is a very high chance that YOU might not like it either? Common sense.

Normies don't know shit about the concept of "review bombing". Normies don't live on the internet, don't know shit, and don't care about shit. They see low rated content and move on.
You think wine moms know what "review bombing" is?
Maybe it's weird, but I absolutely ADORE the concept of review bombing in porn. Imagine fans so invested in the "universe" that they would bomb a director, because he fucked up the timeline of their favourite actress loosing her "virginity". The drama!
Or maybe it's a real thing...?
It was interesting taking a more in depth look at the Nerubians as a culture, one of my biggest complaints about Blizzard storytelling is their lack of in depth background to cultures. It doesn't go super in depth but it was a bit of an eye opener to see some major class system after seeing poor nerubians huddled at the gate.
Shame I don't play the game anymore because I would love to explore in game in how they approach Nerubian culture. Warcraft strength is its world building when they can actually bother. A stark contrast to their horrible storytelling.
I love Warcraft, I dislike WoW
Unsubbed since January 2021, now a Warcraft fan from a distance
The idea that you should rate product a 1 because it contains something that you personally don't enjoy is fucked up and has nothing to do with true "reviewing", because most often than not the 1 stands for 1% of the product, ignoring 99% of the product content. Like giving WoW a 1 because of "woke shit". It has little to do with "common sense" and a lot to do with misguided rage. Sadly, there's still a lot of bigots in the world, so it's not that difficult to "review bomb" any given thing.
Now, by your own admission, normies don't know shit about the concenpt of "review bombing" and only check the score. Provided they're not bigots themselves, why would you think there's a "high chance" they would not like the product as well? So the score is indeed misleading and not representative of the true value of the product. It being worthless as any means of fair review is I think a perfectly good reason to go away with it.
Any review aggregate is prone to abuse. The problem is that most people understand their singular voice isn't very powerful so they seek validation by means of review bombing. Hiding dislikes is one way to combat this negativity. Using a browser add-on to circumvent a deterrent for this behavior provides the same exact validation as review bombing.
