The only pet that's useful and actually worth it there is Lil Ragnaros... All of the rest are cosmetic trash.
Getting into a consistently active guild feels pretty tough in my 19 years of playing.
Even during peak times right after a new patch it's nearly impossible to find someone to craft gear for you in a timely manner.
The auction house consistently has significantly higher prices for rarer items but items are also significantly harder to sell.
Cross realm and battlegroups makes it so that even if you're on a dead realm you'll get phased in with tons of other players looking for a rare so you don't really get any advantages whatsoever being on a dead realm.
I'm on Kalecgos as Alliance and it's an absolute pain and has been since at least Legion but I sucked it up and kept making characters since that's where all my investment already was.

That is literally not true but ok.

A literal panda pet in vanilla wow, along side many others like pet cats and birds.
Tbc had multiple cutesy pets from various sources including children week. Like a baby observer, turtle, and plainstrider wearing it's egg shell like pants.

Hey good news.
They are. Called the wow token.
You can buy ANYTHING on the shop, your wow sub, and expansions, all by just playing the game!
The panda cub was just a panda cub, it wasn't intentionally made more "cutesy" with big shiny eyes and the like. For me, the change in style overtime is very distinct, and it isn't solely due to graphic quality increase. The pets are drawn differently nowadays. Like, overly big eyes are considered "cute" because of the resemblance to human baby eyes. I don't think it was a "thing" before - animal pets were drawn looking like animal pets, not like animals with cute human features.
