Yes, I play and I enjoy following the story and doing all the quests. I also enjoy 5 man content and casual normal raid. There were times that I pushed the harder content but now I just enjoy casual play.

I already said "buffs on the ground"; i.e. specialized buffs and debuffs to even the field; e.g. a healer would get some damaging and a dps would get some minor healing and a nerf of opponent healing etc.
Part of it yeah. But also what's going on in the field; stopping for several minutes to discuss the next pull; a meeting with officers after or before a raid to discuss core strategies etc (and I didn't mention the GRIND (which is often single-player)).
Part of it is inevitable in this game. They have to level; they have to level after max level their basic gear; theoretically that can always be the "same team" doing all those things but it's still not "mythic raiding" until all that initial max level grinding.
Other games you just get thrown into the action; or at least to a larger extend; this game has too much of a carrot on a stick for a promise to even enter the gates for a chance to win the end game and not just for the chance to do it.
I don't really think that would work too well. The roles are just too different today, healers/tanks/dps have different toolkits for a reason. In order for your idea to work, you'd need to start with dummy, "empty template" and then collect buffs to "build you character" during the match (a bit like Torghast, but starting from 0).
And at that point we're talking about completely different game mode, it's not "Arena 1v1" anymore.

I don't really understand what grind you're referring to here? There really isn't much left anymore.
I mean getting to max level - yeah.. but that's not a grind. It's couple of hours of gameplay these days. Getting pre-raid gear is just normal gameplay. Hit some dungeons, craft some stuff. It's the "core content" of the game.
I've said many times, I wouldn't mind a Bnet lobby and direct access to the maps, skipping all world content would be great, but in no shape or form is it a grind these days. Long gone are the days of hitting AP for powergains.

FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..
A little odd having a poll separate from the topic, so, gonna make the same reply.
"Yes. Still do. Always will do, most likely. Played some 26+ MMOs in my life, and keep returning home to Azeroth.
Soon WoW20th, and soon Warcraft30th, enjoyed the adventures since, and still do."

I didn't preorder, but I came back for MoP Remix, and resubbing at the point involved buying the next expansion as well.

"Do you want a game with no casuals so about 500 players?"
My sub just ran out again a day or so ago. I keep resubbing and then cancelling because I log in and am bored with the game. I was not into Dragonflight or Shadowlands and TWW might be the first expansion where I am not pre-ordering or buying the week of release. I have played the beginning of every expansion minus TBC and am feeling kindof bummed that I am not excited about this expansion.
i was on break - came back to finish some stuff in remix , to collect the armors from prepatch and now im on break again till early access starts
in general DF was so shit expansion that i took crazy extensive breaks from playing - havent had such breaks since like wolk - which shows how garbage this expansion is
i so miss BFA and SL when i actualy had reason to play the game outside of first 3 weeks of patch to get portals and then 1 week before next patch to buy AoTC boost if there is mount from it.
overall DF was incredibly garbage expansion - which is praised mostly by people for whome main selling point is " its amamzing cause i dont have to play wow and i can play other games"
trash product is trash .
have 0 hope for TTW - im kinda hyped for cata classic DS patch when it lands and for possible legion remix - hope they choose this one as there is so much transmogs to collect there
we should get (almost) all combinations, but yeah, nelf paladins are long overdue

yeah that was NEVER selling point of DF, thats what morons twisted the "selling point" of not feeling forced to do things into...
but i see why it might be difficult to understand the difference for someone who thinks SL was good... it was second worst expansion to date, after WOD, which frankly was worse only bcs it basicaly had 1 patch less...
For some of us it's obscenely dull unless it's very challenging. Anything up to normal raiding you can do by literally watching a show on another screen. Heroic is also extremely dull in the grand scheme of things; that's because it usually depends on the rest of the team failing; a team who take raiding extremely seriously: don't see any challenge until they do at least the final heroic boss or the 3rd or 4th mythic boss.
I've been subbed non-stop since I started playing in 2006. I took breaks, but annual passes with free mounts and pets made it worth it to pop in and out at will. Only real break from me was WoD. It had potential, but just fell flat for me in the end.
Quit around Thanksgiving of '23, just resubbed so I guess the answer is yes.
No, I might come back for new expansion to play in non competetive way just to see new content but thats it.
At least you are self aware and respect yourself enough to realize you’re burnt out and can’t enjoy the game anymore.

Might just be your time to take a break for a few expansions and come back later to see if you just needed time away or to reaffirm it isn’t for you anymore.
