Upcoming Leveling Difficulty Changes - August 28

Upcoming Leveling Difficulty Changes - August 28

It is entirely intended that effort put into gearing translates into a significant combat advantage at the start of a new expansion, but the values we’ve been seeing are extreme, often not even allowing time for normal combat rotations. This disparity also caused mixed-level groups to experience skewed results, with lower-level players contributing drastically more than level 80s. Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 28, we’re going to apply hotfixes to the game to address this.

The hotfixes will adjust the scaling of enemies in War Within leveling content to increase the power of lower-level enemies, bringing the duration of combat more in line with expected WoW behavior. These changes will be most noticeable at level 70, and will have a reduced impact as your level increases. Enemies at level 80 and above will be unchanged.

Again, we’ll make these changes tomorrow, August 28.

    Thank you!

Guess that early access was actually pay 2 win.

Because you should feel more powerful at level 78 than you did at level 72.

Too many bugs, game came out unfinished.

I actually agree with this, there's a balance between feeling powerful and things being challenging enough to be fun and that balance was very skewed to the powerful part as it took most enemies only like 2 spellcasts to fall over until 78 or so.

same here. Didnt start getting actual gear upgrades til 74-75 and Everything insta died until 77-78. Also it feels like It took a lot less time to level to 76 than it did to 77-78 (im still working towards 80 after plowing through MSQ).

I mean, I understand this change but they probably should have let the non EA people get easy leveling alts for a week before making it. It's their fault the scaling launched in that state to begin with, it looks terrible on the devs for this to rock through early access and then slow it down the second the normal edition people come in.

I one-shot a boss with my trinket on my Shaman at level 71. This was necessary, lol

Yeah, it is way to easy, passed even silly. So fun having the one 70-72s do 80% of the damage while the rest of us at 78-79 didnt even get a multishot off :P

I knew something wasn't right when my chaos bolt tooltip damage cut in half when I hit 71.

Uhh, that's not how it works nor does this change have anything to do with your own personal damage. It's the health of the mobs scaled to X level that is being adjusted here, not your damage numbers.

No, they are doing just fine. Why do you think it's okay to make blind and completely wrong assumptions then insult others over your own head cannon?

oh it's b0rked, my ilevel over 500 main had difficulty with mobs, one of my alts a freshly raised 70 of the same class breezed past them for the first 5 levels with gear just over ilevel400.

    scaling is b0rked.

    Good change.

Stuff died insanely quick even without a full set of prepatch gear.

Hope you bought the FOMO Pass if you had a lot of alts to get as many done as you could

don't you just love paying monthly+box cost for a beta test

It does suck for the people who didn't pay for early access, but the scaling was completely messed up. Level scaling has felt bad for the past few expansions (rip through things at the beginning, then by x7 and up you hit like a wet noodle and get shredded like paper yourself) but it was extra bad this time around. The current meta of pulling literally every single mob to bosses to speedrun dungeons because the low levels can carry is really dumb. You don't even need a tank in most cases.
