I don't have a problem with them selling the yak in another form but at least the yak had 2 vendors on it to show you are engaging with an npc to get repairs or transmog. I guess immersion is way down the list of important things to sell to a quickly diminishing player base...

this is such a weird take,firs off,its not even true,and second,you do realise in ingame gold this is cheaper than like most mounts you buy ingame with gold? is the fact that its from the shop and not a npc vendor the issue?

"Majority of players" would need a looooot of evidence to support that, since the opposite is true for basically every game with a cash shop like WoW. The more likely reality is that a minority of players spend most of the money in the cash shop, as the returns are likely insanely good considering the amount of time/money required to make the items.

....riiiiiiiight... the game just became the most popular it's ever been in the past 20 years? Would love to see the metrics for that claim, as there's plenty to show that's not the case. Not saying the game is bad or suffering players, but that claim is a bit much.

Yey another baby who has about 800 mounts but still acts like Blizzard are horrible people for not giving them another one. What else so soon after an expansion release do you think the designers could be working on? and how long do you think it actually took them to make this mount, you one of these people that think they dedicate an entire design team to a shop mount for a month because it's a shop mount?

Where do they deny it and how could they? Don't these things reflect in tax reports? Say we have just 4 million WoW playres. According to "source: YOU" the majority buys a mount. That is at least 2 million and 1 guy buying a mount and that is 40 million income on just 1 items.

I admit that I don't know anything about US tax laws, I may be completely wrong

Intuition say, even if they don't list it by "how many items sold at what price" - we would be able to find out how much they make through the shop.

- It is another mount
- It could have been in game
- It is in the shop

I mean, shop mounts are literally ingame. But instead of adding them to a vendor for 500k gold you can buy tokens in that value and buy it in the shop, with the option to alternatively buy them with real money.
So I really don't have any bad feelings towards shop items anymore.

Revenue generated by these sales allows to keep monthly subscription price where it is. Some players (whales) spend a lot of extra $ on the game via the shop, ultimately acting as a voluntary higher "tax bracket" to counter plyers who only pay the minimum.

Some comments on the mount.

It's more expensive than the Yak right now as the Yak is 120,000g and the same $20 for the bear will get you 200,000g from a token.

The repair vendor does not sell anything, so those purchasable items on the other mounts aren't available with the bear. It will repair, buy all your junk and other stuff.

There's (as of last night anyway) an entertaining bug in that if you don't cleanly dismount it (for example you log off, accept a dungeon queue pop, summon, etc. while mounted) then it drops a tiny persistent transmogrifier and vendor on the ground which remains for some (indefinite?) time and is still usable. it's possible they're underground and it's just the very tip of them sticking up, but I didn't experiment enough to figure that out. But the ground outside the AH was littered with them. Easy to not notice though. You can log off and on repeatedly to make more of them and probably spell out things etc.

Just make it a 10 mil. ingame mount, as this would be useful for exactly those people who have this kind of money anyway. Good opportunity to remove some gold from the game. Even 50 or 100 mil. would still be fine for some, if they increased the gold cap accordingly or they could make it a quest where you have to turn in stuff (you can buy with your gold) until you somehow reach the equivalent value.

I wonder what impact a very desirable 100 mil. mount would have on the game economy as a whole? I think that at least the token prices would drop very fast.
