But… It doesn’t seem like they read that. Anyways, If you read the title of this post and understood what it would mean, then you have tried Fire mage.

Holy shit, most reactive spec, no self healing and the WORST dps it has ever been; combined with the most APM it has ever been. Only masochists choose fire mage now. Below healers on DPS, frantic clicking, no damage. It needs a 100% buff to all abilities, or there abouts.

Fire sucks right now and that's unfortunate, but it's nothing we haven't seen before - some specs get shafted every now and then until they get around to shuffling things around again. The WoW life.

Just give them another couple of decades, and they might figure out a way to better flatten the amplitude of the balance wave (especially between patches/expansions). You know, like other MMOs have successfully done in just a handful of years. But you know, they're just little indy companies as opposed to being a multi-billion corporation who's been at it for over 20 years.

(It's okay though. I know the sycophants here are convinced that any semblance of balance is physically impossible. You know, since they only play WoW, apparently.)

OP I feel you, I have a mage. Fire is unplayable. I think at one time, long ago enhancement shammy was as bad but other than that I can’t remember any class I’ve played that is in such a bad shape.

Maybe next reset they get another 6% buff

Classes that seem good now DPS wise are:

Fury Warrior
Arcane Mage
DK’s
And I think rouges but not 100%.

Fire mage main problem is that it competes with Arcane and Frost. After two buffs Fire is defo viable for raids with it's good single target, huge mobility and superior survivability.

What really sting is the complete obliteration of Fire Bomb from PTR. They did this big rework, made right side of talent tree about LB and then nerfed it so hard that after two buffs best AoE is still ST Ingite spread, making Fire weak for M+. So if they could fix LB and Flamestrike (and improve Frostfire) viability, spec will be great.

I mean, it seems like Blizzard is letting Arcane have a moment right now but there has never been a point in the last 15 years where I can remember at least one of Mage's specs being meta. Fire can be fun but I haven't been a fan of it since they got rid of Combustion snapshotting Ignite all the way back the fuck in MoP.

Yes, It’s actually fine to let a few specs shine in my opinion. My complaint is that fire mage is not viable as it is. It is behind aug on dmg. Below healers, tanks by a margin if you look on logs. That is just too much; in my opinion.

The balance druid buff made a pretty big difference tbh. It went from being one of the worst specs in the game to being pretty much on par with arcane mages in mythic+ and raids

In the past fire mage was heavily gear dependant. Are we sure that once people get to heroic item levels, fire won't catch up?

But, personally I agree with your take on fire's playstyle: I never liked it. And I am glad Fire isn't the best mage spec for once.

Fire being heavily reliant on secondaries/gear hasn't been a thing for ages.

Fire ATM is just severely undertuned, Blizz knows it, but is just very careful with their tuning, otherwise they wouldn't have buffed it twice already since launch.

Yeah, they are probably waiting until the 60 people playing race to world first are done until they tune it right. Seems legit.

Ok so they are buffing AOE but not the only viable ST talent Pyro….guess I’ll see you in S2.

Balancing should not be that hard. Billions of datapoints…

I think most players would be happy with a few classes being better in ST or Aoe, or burst or consistant dmg or healing. And the rest in the middle, not to far apart. It’s actually amazing that is not the case.

So…tried the improved flamstrike and yeah fire mage is still way off. I would guess it needs about 20% buff to pyro to be middle of the pack single target. Not seeing that happen this season.

Fire mage is absolutely destroying bosses right now. Like 15% more damage than arcane. They definetly don't need a single target buff.
Flamestrike and living bomb are still bad, but i wouldn't be suprised if performance in m+ improves once word gets around to switch back to the traditional ignite spread build.
