There are so many games I have played for like 2 weeks and then never touched them again, like Elden Ring. And those games get praised as the best thing to ever happen.

And then we have WoW where people think its shit when they get bored of it after playing nonstop for 2 months.

    What are you talking about
I wouldn't really go into counting stuff like this. Nowadays world content is exhausted in 2-3 weeks, whether it's new expansion or patch, so I wouldn't count zones.

The dungeons... I think realistically only m+ dungeons count as those are the ones that people constantly run. And regardless of how many dungeons an expansion adds you always get 8 different ones for each season. So a person running those wouldn't see a difference between a new patch and a new expansion.

Raids - both new season and new expansion add 1 raid.

Spells and abilities are being constantly tweaked.

I think the most important thing that differentiates new expansion from a patch is that with new expansion everyone's level, gear and professions are reset to 0.

but it's all meaningless. Whether you call it a patch or expansion it doesn't matter - the only thing that matters is whether they bring enough new stuff for you to keep paying for it.

Yeah, that one is a bullshit statement if I've heard one. BFA was better than Cata, and Cata was shit.

I honestly can't believe this thread has gone on this long.

I'll never be a Blizz white knight, but this isn't a WoW issue. Its burnout. Take some months off. Take the rest of the expansion off. Every single expansion gets threads like these. Just get into reading. Find a discord for a new hobby. Join bumble BFF to find new friends. Volunteer at an animal rescue.

Burnout at your job, or a hobby, or a specific game is expected. Its fine, it doesn't mean the game is bad.

1-6 + moba QERF are 10 buttons with shift/ctrl modifier =30 buttons. At 30 buttons you wont find a class that needs more for pve.
As for procs you can download premade weakaura trackers from wagio.io , i think that's also the best starting point - just look at what they are tracking and you know what matters.
    Chinese players are players too
    Hi

all expacs go thru this at the start, then a gap, then next patch

you see it when leveling or farming past content, like mechagon, torgast, zeren mortis, STV fishing contest, etc. are rather dead then the bing bing wahoo wears off the current content. sorta weird taking a 60 to korthia or ZM and seeing more players than near the end of SL

i was doing STV fishing contest on some lower level alts, i go for the fish trinket or the boots since start of TWW. was doing real well in getting the 40 fish and fishing in the top 50 to get a prize selection quest. this past Sunday it was packed, had no chance, i realized the TWW wahoo was spent, i will now have to wait for Season of the Bing Bing Wahoo patch 11.0

you didn't answer the question though. every expansion has had new zones, new raids, new dungeons and new spells. so why is TWW a "glorified patch" and TBC is not?

Learn to be less contrarian and think about what actually happened.
China had wow banned but they reopened with war within so global m+ runs dropped and spiked thanks to chinese players leaving & rejoining wow.

Add into the mix "quality" of said dungeons and the "quality" of each boss within said dungeons. TBC dungeon bosses are glorified target dummies 9 outa 10 times. Trash in TWW dungeons have more mechanics than most TBC raid bosses lol

yes, 7 zones smaller than the 4 we got in TWW, 5 raids and 16 dungeons many of which were literaly one room or corridor...
plus dungeons had very little reason to be ran 6 weeks in...

so yeah, if you go for numbers rather than actual amount of content TBC had more instanced content (if we ignore 13 delves with variations, and also conveniently leave out world bosses)

anyway, that is COMPLETELY moot to what i asked...
i asked what TBC added that TWW did not and you answered zones, raids, dungeons... which TWW added...
so by your "logic" both are patches, just TBC was bigger?

or you wanna try to answer the question again, and perhaps correctly this time?

Honestly, it's the grind and poor story/world. m+ isn't puggable, delves are bland on purpose so people don't fixate on them. everything costs so much gold.

    quality and quantity.

this is not a good thing, just leads to overstimulation and unnecessary busywork.

those "smaller zones" not only feel bigger, they had more to do by a large margin.

no "one room" dungeons I know of, but they were all interesting and had engaging gameplay.

can't say the same now. no, padding and busywork are not content they are there to slow you down for metrics.

Starting exactly today? Like fresh toon? I would do tw raid for easy champ/hero gear and all the other 'tricks' to get a quick 600+ ilvl then spam 4s for hero crests then spam 7s for hero track gear maybe even spam a few 8s for a crafted 636 or two, then eventually pug 10s like I literally just did for my warlock this very week actually.

    What are the "tricks?"

Who is going to invite you for 4's on a fresh character?

you have to start with 0 rating and no friends also.

My 'gearing tips' I made on my guild's discord:

    Renown 7+ for free chest/shoulder/helm 584 upgradeable to 600+
+8 Bountiful delves give 603/610 (616 hero in vault)
+4 Mythic dungeons drop hero crests (spam these)
+7 Mythic dungeons drop 610 hero gear (spam these)
Do "kill queen" quest for 619 hero crafting crest (picked up in dologarn takes 5min)
    TW raid drops 597 gear
TW raid weekly quest gives 610 hero gear
TW weekly quest gives 603 champion gear
Craft 619 piece of gear with other spark
Win epic BG to get quest that allows you to craft 3 pieces of 610 gear (no sparks req)

You can easily get close to 605 ilvl in the same night you ding (I've done it), but it's a tad slower cuz on non-tw weeks cuz u need to spam more delves potentially. You make your own groups using your own key and consistently dropping it back down to 4 after you time each run. I pug several toons to at least KSM, if not KSH, via pugging every single season since DF s1 you aren't going to convince me that pugging is impossible.

Sounds more complicated and more random than even patch 3 of bfa.
